The first day is over

Lots of fun, a few drops of rain and great competition at the 2021 Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti

The second part of the day is wet by a few drops of rain, which then becomes more insistent in the evening, but the flashes of bad weather can do nothing against the caravan of the historic cars. No particular problem even for the crews who challenge the Dolomites with coupé cars, among them, always at the forefront of regularity enthusiasts, the President of the Automobile Club d’Italia Angelo Sticchi Damiani, paired with his daughter Alessia, on the 1957 Lancia Aurelia B24, flaming red, with a known past in the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi ACI Sport.

Furthermore, among the regulaty drivers of the "Mille Miglia della Montagna", which enjoys the patronage of the Province of Belluno and the municipalities of Belluno and Cortina, also the duo on the 1956 Austin Healey 100/4. "A beautiful race, not the first that we do and every time it is better, the organization is impeccable, thanks to ACI Sport, to AC Belluno" Stefano Visconti tells ACI Sport TV microphones and continues "you can tell many sponsors contributed to this” then procedeed thanking all the staff on the path that makes the journey “relaxed, but also safe”. The second driver, Stefania Visconti, talks about the great desire to start racing again in recent times, also evidenced by the enthusiastic welcome of the people who, more than rainfall, showered the drivers with rounds of applause.

This result was achieved thanks to the joint efforts, in support of the organization, of the Official Sponsors ACI Global Servizi, Sara Assicurazioni and BPER Banca, as well as the Official Partners VerdeCorsa, OMR Automotive, Allemano, Tiemme, Camozzi and Rangers.

The Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti is a fundamental event for long-time regularity drivers, but there are also many beginners and new amateurs of regularity races who put themselves to the test; among these, Giustino and Gaia De Sanctis, father and daughter, competing in a 1954 Porsche 356 Speedster, she is only 18, enthusiastic about her first racing experience.

"Despite the water, a beautiful day" says Alessandro Marzotto at the last time check, his 1929 Lancia Lambda Casaro that he shares with Giulia Siliprandi loses the chronometer in the early stages of the race forcing the crew to proceed "off the cuff" on the trials.

So much fun and enthusiasm, but also the competitive spirit taking a look at the penalties. The rankings are still provisional when not all the results of the day have passed the careful scrutiny of the timekeepers, but we can already see a battle for the top between the 1937 508C by Mario Passanante and Dario Moretti and the 1929 Lancia Lambda by Sergio Sisti and Anna Gualandi.

Tomorrow another day of particular commitment, with the trial in Belluno and the ascent to Cortina via Agordino, which will definitively conclude the ranking games for the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti. On the other hand, there will still be room for the Tour of the Sestieri on Sunday morning, in an event that will be ranked separately, in the morning before the awards ceremony at the Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel.
