All set in Imola for the 4th round of the Italian GT Championship

14/07/2011 – The circuit of Imola will be the turning point of the Italian GT 2011 Championship this weekend. The tricolored GT is getting to the heart of the competition and is ready to offer spectacle and emotions also on this fast circuit that will be housing the fourth round of the season.

In GT2 the Porsche RSR of Coggiola brothers (Victor Porsche), after the double victory in Magione to the Ferrari F 430 driven by Geri-Rossetto (Vittoria Competizioni), will try and consolidate the classification leadership waiting for the arrival of further crews.

The duel between Audi and Porsche will have the monopoly in GT3 class with the classification leaders Bonanomi-Sonvico (Audi R8 LMS-Audi Sport italia) that will have to fight against the team mates Capello-Cicognani and against Autorlando's couple, Cordoni-Ruberti (Porsche GT3R), but also against the Corvette Z06 driven by Merendino-Di Benedetto that at the comeback. After missing the round in Magione, RC Motorsport/Sikelia's crew will be racing again trying to repeat the good perforamance obtained in Misano's race two.

The other two classes of the tricolored championship will certainly produce spectacle on track. In the GT Cup, the Ferrari F430 driven by Malucelli-Pierleoni (Scuderia 27 Baldini Mode) will have to defend the classification leadership from the attacks moved by the Lamborghini Gallardos of Sanna-Stancheris (Team Imperiale) and Piccini-Livio (Mik Corse), as well as by the Porsche 997 of Fornaroli-Mastronardi (GDL Racing), Passuti-Gagliardini (Antonelli Motorsport) and Tavano-Iacone (Petricorse Motorsport).

Finally, in GT4 the only Porsche Cayman of Donativi-Brambati (Starcars) will try to break the predominance of the Ginetta G50, that is class leader with Tiziano Cappelletti (Nova Race). Another British coupe will be at the start of Imola's races with Stefano Zanini at the wheel.

The weekend programme of Imola schedules the two qualifying sessions on Saturday (at 9.00 and 12.50 local time, GMT+2), that will be followed by race one (48 minutes +1lap) starting at 17.40.

Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday (11.10) but this might be split in a second race for GT Cup cars only to be held at 13.10.
