Mugello, Merendino-Di Benedetto and Fornaroli-Mastronardi win the first two races

31/07/2011 - The fifth round of the Italian GT championship undergoing at Mugello this weekend awarded the first two victories.

In the race reserved to GT2-GT3 and GT4 classes Merendino-Di Benedetto (Corvette Z07-Island Motorsport/Sikelia) obtained the win ahead of the two Audi R8 LMS driven by Bonanomi-Sonvico and Capello-Cicognani (Audi Sport Italy). In the GT2, the victory went to Linos-Linossi (Ferrari F 430-Edil Cris), while Cappelletti-Piron (Ginetta G 50-Nova Race) won in GT4 and were followed by the team mates Frazza-Cressoni and Lasagni-Foglio.

The GT Cup race offered spectacle and emotions: after the initial lead by Passuti-Gagliardini and that of Malucelli-Pierleoni in the final part of the race, the win went to the crew Fornaroli-Mastronardi (Porsche 997-GDL Racing) that led Baccani-Bellini (Porsche 997- AB Motorsport/Antonelli) and the Lamborghini Gallardo driven by Sanna-Stancheris (Team Imperiale). In the Lotus Cup Italy Nando Cazzaniga (Lotus 2-EL) won and was followed by Maurizio Fortina and Matteo Castiglioni.

The second race of the day will start this afternoon at 17.10 (local time, GMT+2) on the length of 48 minutes + 1 lap and will see on track the cars of all classes.
