The Lamborghini Gallardo of Bortolotti-Viberti (GT3) and Durante-Comi (GT Cup) get Monza's race-1

The podium of the highest class was rounded up by Sini-Keilwitz (Corvette Z06R) and Donativi-Postiglione (Porsche GT3R), while in the single branded championship the other two "medals" went to Passuti-Goldstein and Maino-Selva (Porsche 997).

Bortolotti-Viberti (Lamborghini Gallardo) are the winners of race-1 of the second round of the Italian GT Championship held in Monza. The lineup of Imperiale Racing proceeded by 0.922 the Corvette Z06R of Sini-Keilwitz (Solaris Motorsport) and the Porsche GT3R di Donativi-Postiglione by 1"551s at the end of a tight race.

Lamborghini dominated also GT Cup where Durante-Comi (Imperiale Racing) led the Porsche 997 of Passuti-Goldstein (Antonelli Motorsport) and Maino-Selva (Ebimotors). Thanks to the victory in race-1, Bortolotti and Viberti got the lead of the provisional classification with 36 points, ahead of Casè-Gattuso (30), while Zanardini and Perel lead GT Cup at 47 points, as Pastorelli brothers follow 9 points short.

Race-2 (pole position for Bortolotti) will start tomorrow at 15,30 with live coverage on AutomotoTV (SKY channel 148), while the web streaming service will be available at www.acisportitalia.it/GT.

Race-1 commentary: Postiglione did not have problems at the start to keep the lead, ahead of Pezzucchi, Calamia, Frassineti, Gattuso, Keilwitz, Viberti and Mancinelli, while in GT Cup Comi proceeded Zanardini and Baccani. Monfardini had to retire from the race due to an incident with "David Gadrì" early on.

The initial stages saw Postiglione pull away from the rivals, while Keilwitz came to the fore at lap three taking Gattuso and Frassineti. Biagi and Babini had a contact instead as Imperiale Racing's driver had the worse and lost about thirty seconds. In GT Cup, Comi led the pack ahead of Zanardini and Valori, that exchanged their position in a couple of occasions.

At lap 5, Postiglione's lead was extended to more than 3 seconds to Pezzucchi. Meanwhile Calamia had been busy to defend the third position from Keilwitz. Behind them, Frassineti, Viberti, Gattuso, Mancinelli, Bontempelli, Amici and Berton, while Valori in GT Cup had to give away the second place to Zanardini after a problem to one tire.

Bontempelli and Amici found their way past Mancinelli at lap nine, while Keilwitz got past Calamia for P3 at the following lap. In GT Cup Comi confirmed his lead ahead of Zanardini and Pastorelli.

Back on track after the drivers swap, Donativi replaced Postiglione confirming his lead ahead of Sini and Bortolotti, but Imperiale Racing's driver managed to get past the driver from Abruzzo and install himself in P2. Romani, who replaced Pezzucchi and was penalized by the failure of the power steering being relegated to P4 ahead of Gai, Beretta, Camathias, Mapelli, Capello, Casè and Cerruti, while Durante got the lead of GT Cup ahead of Passuti and Spezzapria.

Donativi managed to close in on Bortolotti at lap 20 reducing his gap to 1''5. The driver of Imperiale Racing prepared therefore his attack to P1 that succeeded at lap 22. Back in the lead, Bortolotti started pulling away from Donativi and Sini, while Gai had the best of Romani that hit Durante at Parabolica while trying to defend P5, ending the race there.

Mapelli came to the fore taking Camathias first and Beretta then, getting P5, while Maino got the third place in GT Cup behind Durante and Passuti. The closing stages were characterized again by nice duels involving Sini and Donativi. The driver from Abruzzo had the best of Ebimotors driver, while Pastorelli went wide on the grass at the second of Lesmo in GT Cup hitting the barriers hard.

At the flag, Bortolotti got the first win of the season and the leadership of class GT3 together with his co-equipier Viberti. Sini ended second ahead of Donativi, Gai, Mapelli, Beretta, Camathias, Capello, Casè and Ferrara. In GT Cup, Durante ended on top leading Passuti and Maino.
