After the rumors circulated in the past few days, the official confirmation arrived this morning: Drive Technology Italia will line up the new Nissan GT-R Nismo in the Italian GT Championship 2016.

The team from Ancona led by Marco Panzavuota, that has been competing in the Italian Championship of GT Cup for a few years now, is the official customer team and will benefit from the full technical support of JRM, the European and North American partner of Nissan Motorsport International (NISMO). The car will have the same specs of the Nissan GT-R that has won class PRO of the Blancpain Endurance PRO 2015 and that was second in the 12h of Bathurst in Australia. The team is working at the lineup ahead of the debut at the circuit of Monza next May 1st.

"I am obviously very happy – declared a radiant Marco Panzavuota, team principal of the team from Ancona – I worked to this agreement in the past two years, and now I can say that we actually did it. The car is completely different from the first version that we saw in Italy a few years ago. By the looks of the results I believe it is going to be competitive. I have been working hard to reach this agreement, I was aiming for a structure available to give its full support to be competitive from the beginning, while giving the chance to some young drivers to start their professional motor racing career. Sean Walkinshaw is the proof of this, he has recently joined Nissan's programme and has been nominated Nissan athlete of the year. As official customer team, our drivers will have this chance and this has been another reason that made me make this decision."

Excitement on the agreement is also apparent in JRM client development manager James Walters' words: "We are really enthusiastic for the launch, together with Drive Technology Italia, the new Nissan GT-R GT3 in the Italian GT Championship and the drivers development programme by Nissan. We will give our full support to Drive Technology and cannot wait to kick off the season together."

The lineup that will take the car on track is still top secret.
