Umberto Scandola and Guido D'Amore on Skoda Fabia S2000 win the opening stage of the 20th Rally Adriatico, third round of the Italian Rally Championship and Italian Gravel Trophy, known as "Auximon Racing" of 3,30 Km.

The Veronese driver put in a stunning performance, as did Stefano Albertini whose second time was pipped by the French lineup Chardonnet - De la Haye on Citroen DS3 by just two tenths. The third absolute time was therefore obtained by the young driver from Brescia and his navigator Simone Scattolin on the Peugeot 207 S2000. Fourth time for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX driven by Giovanni Manfrinato with Flavio Zanella at the notes.
First in the Italian Gravel Trophy were Luigi Ricci and Christine Pfister on Subaru Impreza, from the Peugeot driven by Costenaro-Bardini to the Ford Fiesta of Tonso-Stefanelli. The driver from Trentino Alessandro Bettega and Davide Bianchi were the only two of the 52 verified drivers to be cut out of the first stage due to a problem to the differential of the Citroen DS3 R3 the first while the Subaru Impreza of the second stopped during the shakedown.

The gravel trophy will get to its heart on Saturday as it will pass by all the places that already staged the race in a recent past, with three stages to be repeated three times. The stages will be "Castelletta" (Km. 11,97), "Castel Sant'Angelo" (Km. 18,29) and "Colli del Verdicchio" (Km. 9,12). The chequered flag will be waved in Cingoli at 18.30 (GMT+1). The rally will go through Jesi four times as the town will house the Service Park.
