Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi, Peugeot 208 T16 R5, end day one of the 99th Targa Florio on top

The Tuscan driver won eight stages and is leading the Veronese Scandola, Skoda Fabia S2000 and the French Chardonnet, Ford Fiesta R5. Rossetti-Chiarcossi lead the Rally Production. Testa-Inglesi theCIR Junior.

Palermo, 29 May 2015 – Peugeot Italia's works team made by Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi ended on top the first day of the 99th Targa Florio, fourth round of the Italian Rally Championship run on the streets of Madonie. The Tuscany driver of Peugeot has been the quickest in seven of the nine stages held today.

Behind Andreucci, Skoda Motorsport Italia's crew made by Umberto Scandola and Guido D'Amore on Fabia S2000 with a 36''2s gap to the top. Sebastien Chardonnet and Thibault De la Haye ended day one in third place at 1'23.8s. The fourth absolute place is currently held by the expert Luca Rossetti, who did not leave any chance to his rivals in the Renault Trophy reserved for the Clio R3T and also leads the CIR Production. Great rally so far for the Sicilian driver Vintaloro on Citroen DS3 R5 who holds the fifth place of the absolute classification. A good fight has characterized the Italian Rally Junior involving Michele Tassone and Giuseppe Testa, as the driver from Molise is leading the way but both have been very good on the Peugeot 208 R2. The Suzuki Rally Trophy has been quite lively for the Swift Sport of class R1. The driver from Modena Claudio Gubertini is leading the pack after a slow start and is followed by Alessandro Uliana.

Among the excellent results, Perico has been victim of a puncture and an excursion in the morning and that of the Sicilian Totò Riolo on Skoda Fabia S2000. Giandomenico Basso has been delayed by a contact that damaged the side of his Ford Fiesta R5 ldi in the long stage of Campofelice di Roccella, losing a lot of time and relegating him far from the top.

The rally is going to end tomorrow at the end of a second day that will start from the Targa Florio Village at 07.20, and will feature three lops on the stage "Gratteri" of 9.3 km. ACI Sport's streaming feed will take place at 10.20 at the second loop of the Gratteri in proximity to the Presti junction and then at 13.20 for the finish line in Campofelice di Rocella's P.zza Garibaldi. Rai Sport 2 will summarize the Sicilian race tomorrow evening at 22.10.
