8/02/2017 – It has been known for a while that Kalle Rovanperä, son of the iconic Harri, had been running a series of tests ahead of his possible participation in some races. Testing on several cars seem to have convinced the young Finn Championto take part in some races of the Italian series.

The decision to allow underage drivers holders of a International FIA Licence to partake in rally stages (with co-drivers holding a valid driving license taking the wheel in the non-competitive sections) taken at the recent Aci Sporting Committee, has boosted a positive conclusion to this project.

The possible presence of the young Finn born on October 1st 2000 in Jyväskylä (Finland) would add some further interest to the races of the Italian championship, even if he had not officially entered the series yet.

The appearences of the driver, who won Latvia’s national title on Skoda Fabia R5 – the same car that he could drive in Italy, and his performance at the recent Motor Show convinced everyone of the huge talent of the young driver that could find himself competing in a series rich with technical itineraries that are very different to the rallies he has been protagonist at. All the formal checks required by regulations for this project to have a successful outcome are still underway.

Another underage foreign driver has expressed interest in taking part in some of the races of the Italian Gravel Trophy: Marco “Marquito” Bulacia. The very young driver from Bolivia is still negotiating his presence and going through all the necessary formal steps allowing his presence.
