Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Elia Ometto, Volkswagen Polo R5, win the 37th Rally Due Valli

The driver from Varese won the race and shuffled the cards on top of the Italian classification. With one round to go the final outcome is still more uncertain. Ciuffi and Gonella, Peugeot 208 R2, claimed the Italian 2WD championship, Campanaro and Porcu that of R1.

Verona, Saturday, October 12th 2019 – Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Elia Ometto had the upper hand on their VW Polo R5 run by HK Racing at the end of the 37th Rally Due Valli , the rally organized by AC Verona. This result made things even more uncertain on top of the classification that now sees four drivers, namely Crugnola, Basso, Campedelli and Rossetti still in the fight when only one race is left: the Tuscan Rewind that will take place next November 22nd - 24th.

The race in Verona also showed that the pairing Crugnola-Polo works like a charm as the driver from Varese led from the word go. Behind them, Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton on Ford Fiesta R5 run by Orange 1 Racing, while the podium was completed by Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai in the Skoda Fabia R5 of Loran. The Ford and Skoda drivers were always far from the times posted by the pacesetter and fought for P2 with Campedelli eventually winning the challenge. Luca Rossetti and Eleonora Mori, where hit by bad luck and got two punctures on their works Citroen C3 R5 which relegated them from a podium position to P7.

The driver from Brescia Luca Bottarelli and co-driver Walter Pasini, Skoda Fabia R5, run a solid rally and ended fourth, Antonio Rusce and Sauro Farnocchia, were fifth in the Skoda Fabia and Giacomo Scattolon and co-driver Matteo Nobili, Hyundai I20 NG R5 were sixth. Michele Griso, run a strong rally ending eighth in the 208 shared with Elia De Guio. They won the rally valid for the Peugeot Competition.

The 37th Rally Due Valli awarded two Italian titles too. Tommaso Ciuffi and Nicolò Gonella, Peugeot 208 R2 of Peugeot Italia won the 2WD Italian Championship. The driver from Firenze and co-driver from Santo Stefano Belbo dominated the championship and won all six rounds. Daniele Campanaro and Irene Porcu, Ford Fiesta R1, won the Italian R1 championship at the end of a dominated season. In the Suzuki Rally Cup – GIR, Andrea Scalzotto led the Swift R1 of Fabio Poggio and his other two main rivals Simone Rivia and Corrado Peloso.
