The Eternal City embraces its rally

The Ceremony at the Campidoglio, the start from Castel Sant'Angelo and the pass through the city center in front of thousands of people welcoming the start of the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale. The six stages of day one in Ciociaria are ahead tomorrow, Saturday, July 20th, in the program of the event organized by Motorsport Italia.

Rome July 19th, 2019. The 7th Rally di Roma Capitale is underway. The start has been given at the Campidoglio with the Ceremony Slection of Start position and pre-rally press conference at 19. The protagonists of the 5th Round of the European Championship and Italian Rally Championship have been introduced and got off the starting platform in Castel Sant’Angelo and then did a pass on the main roads of the Eternal City, passing by some of the most important historic monuments in the world and being cheered by thousands of fans. The autograph session has also been quite crowded before the start. This is quite a unique setting for the event devised by Production World Champion 2014 Max Rendina at the lead of the staff of Motorsport Italia. Tomorrow, Saturday, July 20th, the six stages scheduled for leg one will take place in Ciociaria. Three stages: “Pico-Greci” (19,46 km) [SS1 at 9:33 | SS4 at 15:52]; “Roccasecca-Colle San Magno” (13,93 km) [SS2 at 10:28 | SS5 at 16:47]; “Santopadre-Arpino” (21,17 km) [SS3 at 11:18 | SS6 1 at 7:37] the longest of the rally.
First on the road will be Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof and Poldi Welsersheimb on Ford Fiesta R5. They will be followed by the young Czech crew Filip Mares and Jan Hlousek on Skoda Fabia R5, then the first Italians: Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Ometto, also on Skoda Fabia R5. The starting order has been decided at the Selection of Start position ceremony in Campidoglio based on the best times posted this morning in Fumone and the top 15 classified decided their road position for the first leg.

The starting ceremony will take place today at 21 also for the 41st Rally di Pico, in the presence of the Major Ornella Carnevale. This rally will see 43 crews challenging each other for the Italian Cup 7th Zone on the 6 stages of leg one of the European Rally Championship. The finish ceremony will take place in the central square of the municipality at 19.30.
The Motorsport Village will open tomorrow, Saturday, July 20th in Ostia. A lot of initiatives, shows, karting races, exhibitions in the presence of several big names waiting for the grand finale of the “Arena ACI Roma”, the much-awaited super special stage that will close the event with two adrenaline-packed loops on the Ostia beach on Sunday 21st starting from 19.
