Prema Powerteam is proud to announce its first of 3 drivers for the 2019 Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA. Coming from the team’s Formula 4 operation, British racer Olli Caldwell will make the step up to the new series after a positive 2018 season. Caldwell showed great momentum in the closing part of the past year and remained in contention for the Italian series title until the final round at Mugello. In the end, he amassed four wins and seven more podium finishes, but also secured one more win and a total of four podium finishes in the German ADAC-sanctioned championship.

Moving to the next chapter of his career, he is highly-motivated as the team looks forward to making a positive debut in the new European series, which will feature brand-new machinery. The Tatuus-built racecars will be powered by 1.75-litre Alfa Romeo engines and will present the drivers with a great challenge. Having entered both the Italian and German Formula 4 championships, Caldwell has good knowledge of venues featured in the 2019 schedule, which will enable him and the team to speed up the car development.

Angelo Rosin – Team Principal

“We are looking forward to the coming season and having Olli with us again will provide us with the stability we need to face a brand-new challenge in the Formula Regional European Championship. He really surprised us in 2018 in terms of speed and consistency which is definitely what we need this year too. We hope to see him carry that consistency and momentum into the season ahead in order to be highly competitive right from the start.”
