Basso-Granai on Ford Fiesta R5 lead the 44th San Marino Rally after day one

BRC driver confirmed his lead in the two loops of the "San Marino”. Campedelli second at 12''5. Scandola third on the Skoda Fabia R5. Daniele Ceccoli leading the Gravel Trophy on Fabia S2000.

Repubblica San Marino, Saturday 9 July 2016 -  The two stages on the tarmac that leads to the heart of the Old Republic ended day one of the 44th San Marino Rally.

The final two loops of the San Marino stage repeated twice confirmed the lead of Basso and Granai on Ford Fiesta R5. They managed therefore to secure some important points for the drivers championship as well as for the constructors. Behind BRC driver, team mate Simone Campedelli on the GPL powered Fiesta R5, who is 11''3s short of Giandomenico. Umberto Scandola is third after day one, despite some problems to the pop-off of his Fabia R5. Denis Colombini is fourth on Skoda Fabia S2000 and secured the quickest time in the final "San Marino" stage, but is behind the Skoda Italia Motorsport by only 4 tenths. The fifth absolute place and the lead of the Gravel Trophy was taken by a very good Daniele Ceccoli on Skoda Fabia S2000. Behind him, Simone Tempestini on Ford Fiesta R5. The top ten was rounded up by the Gravel Trophy racers: Luca Hoelbling (Skoda Fabia R5), Nicolò Marchioro (Peugeot 208 T16 R5), Luigi Ricci (Subaru Impreza STI N4) and Andrea Dalmazzini (Peugeot 207 S2000).
Giuseppe Testa is currently leading the Junior classification and the 2WD on Peugeot 208 R2 with Daniele Mangiarotti at the pace notes notes.

Sunday July 10th edition 2016 of San Marino Rally will reach its conclusion with two loops of the "San Bartolomeo” (14,84 km) and "Nerbisci" (13,49 km) stages. The finish line at Multieventi of San Marino at 15,45. ACI Sport's live streaming is scheduled for 15.40.
