Start tomorrow from Piazza Brà in the city center at the feet of the Arena. "Torricelle" – the Super Special Stage, will kick off the challenge at local 20.00. The two decisive days on Saturday and Sunday.

Verona, Thursday 13 October 2016 – The destines of a whole season are to be decided at the 34th Rally Due Valli, race organized by Automobile Club of Verona, closing act of the Italian Rally Championship run in eight rounds this year. This is going to be a much awaited event, as shown by the high number of entrants: 197 crews including those partaking in the regional challenge, those of the 11th Rally Due Valli Historic (CIRAS) and those of the 6th Rally Due Valli Classic (Tre Regioni Trophy, Sport regularity).

Three pairings will challenge each other in Verona for the 2016 title, one of the most tight of CIR so far. Namely, Basso-Granai, Ford Fiesta R5, Andreucci-Andreussi, Peugeot 208 T16 R5 and Scandola-d’Amore Skoda Fabia R5. Giandomenico Basso leads the pack with 80,75 points, Paolo Andreucci (80,00 pt) follows proceeding home hero Umberto Scandola (74,5).

Among the protagonists at he start, Simone Campedelli and Danilo Fappani on the GPL Ford Fiesta R5, will try to find again the rhythm on the BRC car after the difficult Rally Roma Capitale. The Orange crew will compete also for the Asphalt Trophy, challenging current classification leader Alessandro Perico who will be on a Peugeot 208 T16 R5 with Mauro Turati. Michele Tassoni will also be present for the Asphalt Trophy on a 208 T16. He had a good Rally in Rome and will be present at the Rally Due Valli with Alice De Marco aiming to some precious points in the Italian series. The entry list includes some other strong names like the quick driver of the Gravel Trophy Luca Hoelbling on the second Skoda Fabia R5 run by Scuderia Car Racing, alongside Scandola’s. Among the underdogs, Giacomo Costenaro on Peugeot 208 R5.

The Constructor championship is also still to be decided as Ford is currently leading the charts at 105,25 points, followed by Peugeot (91,50 pt) and Skoda (76 pt).

Among the most awaited verdicts, the Italian Rally Junior Championship will see the duel involving Giuseppe Testa and Marco Pollara. The Sicilian, with Giuseppe Princiotto at the notes, has been recently selected for the ACI Sport Federal Supercorso and aims at closing the season ahead of the driver of Peugeot Junior Team. Testa, with Daniele Mangiarotti at the notes, will in turn try and fend off Pollara to secure the title. Among the other Under 25, Andrea Mazzocchi and Giorgio Bernardi, both on Peugeot 208 R2. The protagonists of the Michelin R2 Rally Cup will fight for this rich trophy while challenging CIR Junior’s racers too.

The 2WD Italian Series will see the winner of the Clio R3T Trophy Luca Panzani present in Verona on a S1600 to challenge Ivan Ferrarotti,on Renault Clio R3C. Among the other protagonists of the 2WD title hunt, the quick Kevin Gilardoni, Clio R3T, Giorgio Bernardi and Corinne Federighi, Renault Clio R3C. In the Twingo R1 Trophy, Riccardo Canzian, Emanuele Rosso and Debora Sartori will fight in the final act on the little French R1 cars.

The racing programme scheules sporting scrutineering for today, while technical scrutineering will take place tomorrow as the shakedown on the Cazzano – Illasi road, from 8.30 to 14. Starting ceremony in Verona’s Piazza Bra at 18.31 as the drivers will head off to run the Spectacle Super Stage “Torricelle” from 20.00.
