Stefano Albertini and Danilo Fappani, Skoda Fabia Evo, win the 44th Rally 1000 Miglia

Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Ometto, Hyundai i20 N Rally 2, were second while Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai, Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, third.

Montichiari (BS), Saturday, September 4th, 2021 – Stefano Albertini and Danilo Fappani, Skoda Fabia Evo 2, won the 44th Rally 1000 Miglia, the sixth round of the Sparco Italian Rally Championship. Albertini won the home rally proving once again to be among the strongest Italian drivers on the rallying scene. In this season he retired from the Targa Florio, due to an incident and had to skip the San Marino Rally and the following Rally di Roma due to budget issues, but now he bounced back.

Behind him, Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Ometto, Hyundai i20 N Rally 2, were 5”3s off the pace. The Italian driver confirmed regardless that the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 is a step forward and the feeling he has with the car cannot but improve in the remainder of the season. The final step of the podium went to Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai, Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. The driver from Veneto wanted to pull away in the classification, but early on he realized he did not have a car like the previous Fabias that he drove. He recovered well in the closing stages up to P3 that earned him 12 points and keep him on the top of the classification.

Fabio Andolfi ended fourth as he was overtaken by Basso in the closing test. Andolfi and Stefano Savoia, Skoda Fabia R5 Evo confirmed their quality on the new roads to them and were not far off the pace. Andolfi ended 29”7s from the top. The fifth place, and the first among the disappointed drivers, went to Damiano De Tommaso and Giorgia Ascalone, Citroen C3 R5, that did not find the right feeling with the car. Luca Pedersoli and Anna Tomasi, VW Polo R5, had some fun posting some excellent times and taking a good position. Within the top ten were also Giacomo Scattolon and Giovanni Bernacchini, VW Polo R5, that lost some ground in the closing stages, Andrea Mabellini and Lenzi, Skoda Fabia, while Tommaso Ciuffi and Nicolò Gonella, WV Polo, were ninth on a car that did not have the right setup. The final place in the top ten went to Alberto Dall’Era and Roberto Mometti, VW Polo R5. Mirco Straffi and Marco Nesti, Peugeot 208 R2C, ended a good race ahead of the Ford Fiesta of Daniele Campanaro and the 208 of Nicola Cazzaro. Christopher Lucchesi Jr., Peugeot 208 Rally4 had to retire halfway into the race. In the CIR Junior, among the young talents of ACI Team Italia, the victory went to Alessandro Casella and Rosario Siragusano, Ford Fiesta Rally 2, that led Giorgio Cogni and Gabriele Zanni and Roberto Daprà with Fabio Andrian. Guglielmo De Nuzzo and Andrea Colapietro, had a good rally ending fourth and leading Emanuele Rosso that kept the lead of the classification with Andrea Ferrari. The women trophy went to Rachele Somaschini and Nicola Arena, Citroen C3 R5. Davide Nicelli won the R1 category one rally early with the constant support of Tiziano Pieri at the notes in the Clio Rally5. In the Suzuki Rally Cup Simone Goldoni and Eric Macori were unstoppable in the Swift Sport Hybrid and led Igor Iani and Roberto Pellè, both in the hybrid car. In the GR Yaris Rally Cup by Toyota great battles were fought by the 12 GR Yaris were Federico Romagnoli and Angelo Pucci Grossi have been shining among the Unders but also several experienced drivers like Marco Gianesini.

In the ACI Sport, 2nd Zone Rally Cup the victory went to Andrea Spataro and Edoardo Brovelli, Skoda Fabia, that led Michele Griso and Elia De Guiso, Ford Fiesta. The podium of CRZ was rounded off by the Skoda Fabia of Gialunca Varisto and Ramon Baruffi.
