Great success of teams and drivers from all over the World at the Targa Florio Classica 2019

Excitement grows for the Grande Evento of the Automobile Club Palermo and Automobile Club Italia, organized with the support of ACI Sport in collaboration with ACI Storico. A success of drivers and teams is confirmed with almost 170 total registrations for a rich List of Participants.

The 2019 edition of Targa Florio Classica is approaching. Only 10 days to the event that confirms its great success and growth in terms of contents of the program and number of participants, both Italians and from abroad.

The registrations of teams are almost 170, including more than 80 teams participating to the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio 2019. In particular, number of registrations to Targa Florio Classica have grown of more than 30% compared to 2018 edition.

Today, as in the beginning of ‘900, years of the creation of the “Cursa” wanted by Vincenzo Florio, this competition is more than ever a great International event that attracts drivers from 5 different continents. The parterre will be of great importance for the this appointment of the Grandi Eventi Italian Championship, made of Italian teams, in particular Sicilians, with the presence of Giuseppe Giaconia di Migaido and Costanza Afan De Rivera, nephew of Vincenzo Florio, racing with Porsche 356 C of the 1964 and the champion Giovanni Moceri, leader of the championship by ACI Sport, but also many foreign drivers that do not want to miss such a great appointment.

The heterogeneous List of Participants is enriched by teams coming from 5 different continents, with the involvement of 14 different countries, among which Extra-European ones: United States, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Australia. The European ones are the great majority and include, in addition to Italy, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Malta, Monaco, Holland, Portugal, and Switzerland, the latter being the most represented country, after evidently Italy, with 6 teams, followed by Holland with 4 and Germany with 3.

Among these teams, of particular interest are some of the cars participating, such as the Fiat Gilco Fontana 1100 Sport Barchetta del 1950 led by the Dutch Van Adrighem Leendert and Berkel Frederik, the Osca S187 of the 1956 presented by Van Adrighem Pieter and Berkel Cornelia, the Bugatti TYP 51 of the 1932,  led by the Germans Santo Randazzo Michael Vogel, or the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 James Young  year 1932 of Harry Seifert, even though the oldest car is the 1929 Salmson Gs 8 Gd Sport of the Italians Emilio Bordoli and Nicola Castelli.

The myth of Tazio Nuvolari holds a place of absolute importance at the Targa Florio Classica. In this edition in fact for example there will be the two Cisitalia 202 SMM of the 1947 entitled to the “Mantovano volante", the model of the scuderia MWVCC Brescia will be led by Paolo Danieli and Riccardo Bailo, while the team Ermanno De Angelis and Nunzia Del Gaudio will be on the car of the MAUTO, the Museo dell'Auto di Torino, affiliated ACI Storico, who celebrates the successes of Nuvolari participating to the races of the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi ACI Sport.
