The 2020 edition of the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti, classic regularity race valid for the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi ACI Sport, thanks to the joint organizational efforts of AC Belluno and ACI Sport, is getting ready to start Thursday 23 July from Cortina d'Ampezzo.

From here in fact, in the headquarters once again located at the Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel, the technical checks for the cars will start on the first day, while the drivers will be able to participate in the briefing with the Race Director. The event, sponsored by the Province of Belluno and the municipalities of Belluno and Cortina, will be attended by the official sponsors of ACI Global Servizi, which will provide vehicles to ensure safety along the way, and Sara Assicurazioni, with spaces dedicated to discovering the insurance plans designed for vintage cars and members of ACI Storico. UBI Banca, OMR Automotive, Tiemme, Camozzi and Rangers groups will also be present as official sponsors, Allemano will be the official timekeeper of the competition, while Santa Margherita will be the wine supplier during the event. Water will be offered by Acqua Fiuggi, who, in the words of the General Manager Mirco Gabin, wishes the start of a collaboration based on shared values and traditions: "Fiuggi, historical and precious brand of Italian mineral waters, is happy to be an ACI Sport partner for this highly prestigious event. I think that, with the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti, we can start a collaboration with ACI Sport characterized by the high value of the traditions that unite us."

The competition will start on Friday 24 July, with the column of historic cars that will start from the Pearl of the Dolomites to embark on a two-day race through the extraordinary panoramas offered by the Ampezzo Dolomites, in territories recognized as a UNESCO heritage site. The first day includes a 255 km route in the Belluno area, from the Giau Pass in the direction of Selva di Cadore, then Forcella Staulanza. Dont, Forno di Zoldo, Longarone, Soverzene and Ponte nelle Alpi will be the other places touched in reaching Belluno.

From here the route will continue further south, reaching Feltre and Padavena, where the participants will be able to enjoy a well-deserved refreshment, before getting behind the wheel to begin the closing of the circle in a parallel path that includes the evening return to Cortina, passing by Falzarego Pass, thus ending the first day on the road. Cesio Maggiore, San Gregorio nelle Alpi, Agordo and Rocca Pletore are among the places touched by the track during the return phase.

On the second day of the race, Saturday 25 July, the route will branch off from Cortina to the north, through Tre Croci Pass, and then cross the passes of Sant'Antonio, Zovo, San Pietro di Cadore and Monte Croce Comelico. The column of vintage cars will continue to move on touching San Candido, Dobbiaco and other suggestive places immersed in the mountains and valleys of this unique territory, until reaching Valdaora. From this imposing green oasis of the Val Pusteria, near Brunico, the return path will start which, through the Valparola and Falzarego passes, will lead the participants back to the heart of Cortina, where they will have the opportunity to receive the festive embrace of the enthusiastic audience of fans. A well-deserved celebration, after the 468 km covered in the two days, where the challenge between the drivers will develop over 90 timed tests and 6 average tests detected by the numerous race officials who, for the second consecutive year, will be able to use the precious aid of Allemano chronographs.

Sunday 26 July will instead be dedicated to the award ceremony which, held at the Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel, will officially conclude the games for the 2020 edition of the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti sports event. Not before, however, to have given the opportunity to the participants who wish to, to measure themselves again in the morning in the Tour of the Sestieri of Cortina, an ancillary competitive event, outside the main competition.

 

The ranking of the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti, as a regularity race valid for the ACI Sport Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi, revival of the speed competition held since 1947, allows access only to drivers of cars produced until 1971.

The opportunity to experience the competitive thrill of the Dolomite track is however confirmed again this year for the particularly valuable historic cars built from 1972 to 1990, which will compete in the separate rankning Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti Legend.

Finally, a third ranking, called the Tributo Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, will then be dedicated to the Gran Turismo road cars built since 1991.
