Italian GT engines on again at Vallelunga after the summer break

14/09/2011 - Vallelunga will house this weekend the first race of the Italian GT Championship after the summer break. The appointment on the race track near Rome dedicated to Piero Taruffi will witness four races involving twenty-five crews.

In class GT2 the novel crew De Lorenzi-"Spidey" will be at the wheel of the Porsche RSR, while the new F458 Ferrari will debut in GT3 driven byFerdinando Geri and Marco Cioci (AF Corse). The Maranello's coupe will place itself in the duel animating the class since the intial races that had the two Audis, including that of the classification leaders Bonanomi-Sonvico, the Porsche driven by Cordoni-Ruberti and the Corvette of Merendino-Di Benedetto as main rivals.

At Audi some crew mixing up happened before this round as Andrea Sonvico will have Dindo Capello as crew mate while Marco Bonanomi does not know his crew mate since Alessandro Cicognani is not available.

The await is also mounting for GT Cup class, where Malucelli-Pierleoni keep the leadership in the general classification at the wheel of the F430 Ferrari belonging to Scuderia 27 Baldini Mode. The Roman team decided to do things in a big way for the home race and, on the side of the main car, will line up two more F430 given to Casè-Bernasconi and to the winner of the 2nd edition of the Italian Big Brother, Flavio Montrucchio, who will share the drive with Antonio Palluan.

The title fight is still open and behind the two classification leaders the two Lamborghini Gallardo driven byPiccini-Livio (Mik Corse) and Sanna-Stancheris (Team Imperiale) are getting closer as the Porsche 997 driven by Mastronardi-Fornaroli (GDL Racing) and that of Passuti-Gagliardini (Antonelli Motorsport). Romani-Del Monte (Porsche 997-MRacing), at the comeback to the Italian GT after an absence of some races, will also be present in the sixth round of the season.

In GT4 will debut Rayneri-Belicchi (Porsche 997-Autorlando), while Scuderia Costa Ovest will bring on track two Ginetta G50, one for Saggese-Cristoni and the other for Emiliani-Quaderno. Tiziano Cappelletti (Ginetta G 50-Nova Race), the current classsification leader, will have to face the attacks from team mates Lasagni-Foglio, while Donativi-Brambati (Porsche Cayman-Star Cars) will try to bring home the second win of the season.

The racing programme schedules two qualifying sessions on Saturday (at 9.30 and 13 local time, GMT+2), race one reserved to classes GT2, GT3 and GT4 (at 17.00) and that for GT Cup cars (at 18.10) that will be on track together with the GT MC Maserati racing in the single brand championship. Race two is scheduled for Sunday at 12.10 (GT2,GT3 e GT4), while GT Cup's race two will begin at 13.20 and will have again Maserati GT MC cars on track too. All the races will be run on the distance of 48 minutes + 1 lap.
