Mugello, Andrea Gagliardini (Porsche 997) first poleman of GT Cup

01/10/2011 -It's Porsche again and again are the colors of the Antonelli Motorsport-Star Cars on top of the charts at Mugello, theatre of the 7th round of the Italian GT Championship, thanks to Andrea Gagliardini who set an amazing time of 1’52.361 in the first qualifying session.

The 25 years old driver from Rome obtained the best time in the final stages of the session, dominated in the initial part by the Lamborghini Gallardo driven by Davide Stancheris. “All went well – commented the poleman Gagliardini – the car was perfect thanks to the great work done by Marco Antonelli and I am quite hopeful for the race. We are now waiting for the second qualifying that will see my team mate Christian Passuti at the wheel; I am certain we will get another good performance for the team”.
Less than 4 tenths shy (1’52.790) was the other driver of team Antonelli Motorsport, Alessandro Baccani, perfectly at ease on the home circuit and sharing the cockpit of his car with Massimo Monti in the races . Third was the Ucranian Adrii Kruglik in 1’53.127, at the wheel of the Porsche 997 with the new colors of GDL Racing.

Kruglik will find at his side his team mate Valentino Fornaroli, fourth in 1’53.187, while the two Lamborghini Gallardo driven by Davide Stancheris (Team Imperiale) and Stefano Livio (Mik Corse) will start from the fourth row of the grid thanks to the laptimes of 1’53.328 and 1’53.853.
The Russian Alexander Skryabin followed in 1’53.947, on the Ferrari F 430 of Vittoria Competizioni, then Alessandro Pierguidi (1’55.546) was the first driver of the Maserati Trophy that will be on track together with the Italian GT cars.
The second qualifying session is scheduled for this afternoon at 15.10 (local time, GMT+2) and will be valid for race two's grid.
