Luigi Lucchini and Alessandro Pier Guidi (Ferrari 458 Italia) won race-2 of the 3rd round of the Italian GT Championship held at the Mugello. BMS-Scuderia Italia's lineup proceeded the other coupe of Maranello driven by Casè-Giammaria (Scuderia Baldini 27) and the Porsche GT3R of Renauer-Bourdeaux (Tonino Herberth Motorsport), while Galbiati-Rangoni (Porsche 997-Antonelli Motorsport) got the win in GT Cup from the Lamborghini Gallardo of "El Pato”-Zanardini and Tempesta-Iacone (Bonaldi Motorsport).

In GT3, Mapelli and Schoeffler keep the lead of the charts with 59 points, that is nine clear of Casè-Giammaria and ten of Donativi-Gagliardini. In GT Cup, Galbiati strengthened his lead at 79 points and is followed by Iacone-Tempesta (67) and Passuti (55).

Race-2 as it happened: The race started with a twist straight away. Marco Magli could not make it to the start of the first stint due to a stomach virus and left the wheel of the Ferrari 458 Italia run by Easy Race to Ferrara. At the start, Mapelli got the lead followed by Renauer, Pier Guidi and Zonzini. The four drivers managed to give the race a very high pace pulling away from Casè, Barri, Ferrara, Gagliardini, Beretta, Necchi and Benucci, while Rangoni got the lead from Zanardini to Sala in GT Cup.

Ferrara got into Barri's slipstream at lap 4 and managed to find his way past him at the following lap, but the Imperiale Racing driver had a problem to the front splitter and therefore had to come back into the pits.

At lap 11, pits opened for drivers change as Mapelli confirmed to be on the lead with 1''5s advantage to Renauer, 2”1 to Pier Guidi, 3”4 to team mate Zonzini and a solid 12”1 to Ferrara, while in GT Cup Schiattarella installed himself in third behind Rangoni and Zanardini.

Back on track after all drivers changes, Capello had a contact with the Porsche of Maestri that he was lapping and got stranded in the gravel trap ending his race early. Lucchini, in for Pier Guidi, was on top leading Bourdeaux (who replaced Renauer), and then Schoeffler, Ferrara, Donativi, Carboni, Giammaria, Lancieri, Frassineti, Benedetti and Romani followed in the order. Galbiati, got the car from Rangoni and proceeded "El Pato” and Quinzio in GT Cup.

Ferrara characterized the last stint as he started hammering down to recover part of the minute penalty he would have been given by rule due to the defection of his co-equiper. In two laps the Easy Race driver got past Schoeffler and then made a successful move on Bourdeaux, installing himself behind Lucchini at lap 20. Meanwhile, in GT Cup Alessandri got into P3 behind Galbiati and "El Pato”. At lap 25 Lucchini was informed by the radio of Ferrara's penalty and allowed him through, while Giammaria in his comeback race got past Schoeffler and Bourdeaux at lap 27, completing his stunning performance.

Lucchini (and co-equiper Pier Guidi) claimed their first win of the season under the chequered flag, leading Giammaria, Bourdeaux, Schoeffler, Donativi, Carboni, Lancieri, Frassineti and Ferrara who was relegated to P9 by the one minute time penalty, ending ahead of Mora-Sà Silva. A very good Galbiati got the win in GT Cup with co-equiper Rangoni, ahead of "El Pato”-Zanardini and Tempesta-Iacone.
