All is set at the Misano World Circuit for the 2nd round of the Sprint Series of the Italian GT 2022 Championship. After the great start in Monza in April, the Italian series will head to the Misano circuit with another successful event of this 20th edition that will feature 38 cars on track in the classes GT3, GT Cup and GT4.

GT3: Following the first and second place obtained in Monza’s opener, the car to be beaten in the highest class will be the BMW M4 GT3 of Timo Glock and Jens Klingmann. The BMW Italia-Ceccato Racing Team’s pairing is leading the classification from Alberto Di Folco (Lamborghini Huracan-Imperiale Racing), who won race-2 alone after the incident that prevented his co-equiper Stuart Middleton to take part in the race on Sunday. The good news is that 22 years old British driver will regularly be at the start of the races after an intense rehabilitation work. The Italian team will side the Lithuanian Paul August on a second car next to Di Folco-Middleton’s, while the third Huracan will have the LP Racing’s colors with GT3 PRO-AM leaders Cecotto-Di Giusto behind the wheel.

As in Monza, Nova Race will field three Honda NSX which will be driven by Guidetti-Moncini, that are third in the overall classification, Greco-Guerra, that are second in GT3 PRO-AM, while Diego Di Fabio, who had a good Endurance in Pergusa, will share driving duties with Luca Magnoni.

A total of five Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo will be lined up by Scuderia Baldini, AF Corse and Easy Race. Di Amato-Urcera and Gai-Panciatici will drive the cars fielded by the team located near Rome. The two pairings have run a solid race in Monza. The team from Piacenza will field Alessandro Cozzi (who is leading GT3 AM) and Huilin Han-Negro, while the team from Veneto will line up Agostini-Vebster.

The Mercedes AMG GT3 of Antonelli Motorsport will also be present. These will be driven by Kikko Galbiati, who is third in the provisional classification, and the Dutch Paul Meijer, who will fill in for Matteo Cressoni, while the second car will be driven by Pesce-Rappange.

The #1 car, i.e. that of the team reigning champion, will be driven by the young Marco Butti and Simone Patrinicola, that are leading GT3 AM with Alessandro Cozzi, as they all impressed behind the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS of Audi Sport Italia at their debut in Monza.

GT CUP/GT4: After two races the class for the single-make configured cars is tight: Lamborghini and Ferrari are sharing the lead of the PRO-AM, but Porsche is just two points short. Barri-Scalvini in their Huracan ST of Team Italy and Coluccio-Mazzola in the 488 Challenge of Easy Race are leading the pack equal on points and proceed Gattuso-Mainetti in their 991 GT3 Cup Gen II wearing Krypton Motorsport’s colors.

A second Huracan of Team Italy driven by Attianese-Castillo Ruiz and those of the Colombian Andres Mendez (Bonaldi Motorsport) and Carboni-Pegoraro (Antonelli Motorsport) will be present too, as the 488 Challenge of Marzialetti-Tibaldo and Pitorri-Simonelli (Best Lap), Berton-Buttarelli of SR&R. The Team will also field a Ferrari 458 Challenge for Rocchi-Salerno.

The lot of Porsche 991 GT3 Cup Gen II include those of Krypton Motorsport, as the team will field Gattuso Mainetti, Locanto-Costacurta and Tazio Pieri (who is leading AM), and the Tsunami RT’s cars of Berton-Bontempelli and the all-female pairing Linossi-Piria. Two of the coupes from Stuttgart will be brought on track for EF Racing by Alessandri-Baruchelli and Bronzini-Tabacchi, while Ebimotors’ units will be driven by Amaduzzi-Nelson and Postiglione-Piccioli. Autorlando and AB Motorsport will field a car each, respectively for Ghezzi-Pichler and Di Leo-Poppy.

In GT4, the Mercedes AMG is leading the pack with Marchetti-Schjerpen, that won both races in Monza and got the full haul. The Nova Race’s drivers will get to Misano as the favourites, but they will have to serve a 30s time handicap at the pit stop instead of the 15s of teammates Bencivenni-Ferri and Cerati-Fondi (Porsche Cayman-Autorlando), that are 13 points shy of the lead.

PROGRAM AND TV COVERAGE: The racing weekend will begin with two free practice sessions (at 10.35 and 15.30) on Friday. The two qualifying sessions will be on Saturday (at 10.20 and 11.10).
