The circuit of Monza will host the 4th and closing round of the Italian GT Endurance 2022 Championship this coming weekend. The grand finale will see 23 cars at the start and some classifications are still uncertain with a lot of lineups still in the hunt for the seven titles of GT3 and GT Cup.

GT3: In the highest class the sprint to the title will be a private matter at VSR with the two lineups Beretta-Liberati-Nemoto and Basz-Hites-Michelotto (Lamborghini Huracan GT3) split by one point on top of the classification. The drivers of the team led by Vincenzo Sospiri will engage in a battle until the last corner at the end of a season in which they have always locked out the top two from the round of Pergusa. Daan Pijl and Raul Guzman (Lamborghini Huracan GT3-Imperiale Racing) still have some chances for the title and in Monza, they will be joined by Mateo Llarena, as Guidetti-Moncini-Cabezas (Honda NSX GT3-Nova Race). The two lineups are respectively 11 and 15 points off the top, but considering the supremacy of the VSR lineups, their chances are rather slim.

A second Huracan will be fielded by Imperiale Racing for Balthasar-Ponzio-Roe, while Nova Race will field a Honda for GT3 AM classification leaders Magnoni-Di Fabio and for the rookies of the series from China Paul IP Kung Ching and Marchy Lee Ying Kin.

Regarding debuts and returns, the round of Monza will be the maiden race for Lauck-Dreisow (Huber Racing), while Team Herberth Motorsport will make a much-welcomed return with the lineup Bohn-A. Renauer-R.Renauer, both in a Porsche GT3R, while Kessel Racing will field a Ferrari 488 GT3 for Cutrera-Talarico.

The grand finale in Monza will also award the GT3 PRO-Am title whose classification is currently led by Cola-Moulin in the third Lambo of VSR, and Pesce-Rappange equal on points. The latter will share the Mercedes AMG GT3 of Antonelli Motorsport with Francesca Linossi in Monza. Two points short of them are Comandini-Fascicolo-Nilsson (BMW M4 GT3-BMW Italia-Ceccato Racing Team), but Scholze-Galbiati at 26 points are still in the fight for the PRO-Am title with the second Mercedes of the team led by Marco Antonelli. The latter have a better situation regarding discards than the leaders.

GT Cup: Both titles of GT Cup are still up for grabs. In PRO-AM the 17 years old Rocco Mazzola (Ferrari 488 Challenge-Easy Race) is leading the classification by just 5 points from Fischbaum-Pavlovic (Lamborghini Huracan ST-Bonaldi Motorsport), while in AM it will be an internal battle at Team SR&R (Ferrari 488 Challenge) with Buttarelli-Cossu joined by Castillo Ruiz, that will have to face the challenge of teammate Francesco La Mazza, who is only one point shy of them. The driver from Catania will be at the start with Manuel Menichini and a third driver still to be decided, while Mazzola’s PRO-Am title hunt will be supported by his two co-equipers Luigi Coluccio and Vito Postiglione.

The Lamborghini Huracan ST lot will be completed by the second car of the Bonaldi Motorsport for Kodric-Mur, that of FFF Racing Team driven by Luciano and Donovan Privetelio and that of Team Lazarus for Bozzoni-Del Monte-Santonocita.

The Porsche 991 GT3 Cup will be present with Krypton Motorsport with Berton-Mainetti-Riva and Cazzaniga-Di Benedetto-Nicolosi behind the wheel.

PROGRAM and TV COVERAGE: The closing weekend of the Endurance Series will be open, free of charge, for fans in the paddock and grandstands. The event will kick off on Friday with the first free practice session (from 13.50 to 16.50) and will continue on Saturday with the second session (from 10.30 to 11.30).
