Giulietti champion in KZ2, Corso in 60 Baby are the verdicts of the fourth round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship at the Pista 7 Laghi

The Italian title has virtually been given to Giulietti in KZ2 a round in advance. Corso wins the title in 60 Baby. Duel between Andrea Moretti and Pezzolla in KF2, as the two won one each of the two Finals. In KF3 victories to Bertonelli and Alessio Lorandi. In 60 Mini Sargeant wins the first final but Leonardo Lorandi surprisingly gets Final-2.

09/09/2012 – The fourth and second-last round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship took place this weekend at the Pista 7 Laghi of Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia), marking the final sprint of the tricolored championship with a particularly exciting round.

FIRST TITLES (VIRTUALLY) AWARDED IN KZ2 AND 60 BABY. A first title has been virtually awarded to Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) in KZ2 thanks to the solid points obtained by the driver from Osimo (Ancona) in Castelletto due to the victory in the first Final and the second place in Final-2.

60 Baby (the category for the youngest aged between 8 and 9) lived in this round the third and last round of the championship after the round of Ugento and Siena. The title of the category is currently on hold due to the double appeal presented by Fusco against the exclusion given to the driver from Neaples not only in the last round of Siena but also in Castelletto. Despite these two appeals, even if they proved him right, the title is virtually in the hands of the Sicilian Salvatore Corso (Top Kart-Lke), as he scored a very good second place in Castelletto's Final-1 and a fourth place in Final-2 on top of the win and second place obtained in Siena.

WINS TO GIULIETTI AND CELENTA IN KZ2. In the first Final of KZ2 Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) got the lead since the beginning and took it to the finish line where he was followed by Massimo Mazzali (Jesolo-Tm). Third at the flag was Nicola Gnudi (CKR-Tm). In the second Finale Francesco Celenta (Birel-Tm) flew to the win after the start from the pole position due to the inverted grid of race two (he was in fact eighth in race one). Behind Celenta, Giulietti and the French Clement Da Silva (Praga-Vortex) driving for team DB Motorsport by Praga Italia, who scored a good recover as he started ninth. Giulietti's rival to the championship fight, Massimo Dante (CKR-Tm), was forced to an early retirement in race one but then obtained the fourth place of race 2 at the end of a recover started from the back of the grid.

Classification of KZ2: Giulietti points 202; 2. Celenta 126; 3. Dante 122; 4. Mazzali 85; 5. Gnudi 71; 6. Pastacaldi 62; 7. Rossi 62; 8. Pizzuti 58; 9. Mollo 46; 10. Musio 43.

DUEL ON TOP OF KF2 FOR MORETTI AND PEZZOLLA. The first of the two finals of KF2 went to the classification leader Andrea Moretti (Kosmic-Tm), who led Alessandro Pandolfi (Intrepid-Tm) and Nicolò Balsamo (First-Bmb), while the other protagonist of the championship, Gianni Vigorito (Birel-Bmb) was forced to the retirement due to a technical problem. Federico Pezzolla (Kosmic-Tm) was again under the spotlight in race two when he got on the top step of the podium at the end of a good race. Pezzolla proceeded Marco Moretti (Kosmic-Tm) by a solid margin and the surprising Japanese Fuma Horio (Super Winforce-Parilla). Vigorito ended fourth after a good recover from the back of the grid. Andrea Moretti ended 8th instead.

NEW NAMES IN KF3, BUT ALESSIO LORANDI GETS RACE-2. Very interesting result in KF3 with two youngsters at their debut in the championship scoring a podium in Final-1. The Tuscany driver Diego Bertonelli of team Dep Competition won in fact the debut race and Mattia Drudi driving for team Drumel Kart ended third behind the classification leader Alessio Lorandi, second in this occasion (all top three drivers on Tony Kart-Vortex). The epilogue of Final 2 awarded Alessio Lorandi who got an early lead and pulled away from Bertonelli and Danilo Albanese (Energy-Tm), with the latter eighth in race one and therefore starting the second final from the pole due to the grid inversion.

In the first lap of Final-2 an incident took off several drivers, as the color bearers of Baby Race Vincenzo Paparo and the Venezuelan Sidney Gomez having the worst of the incident. Paparo broke his right collarbone while Gomez had strong contusion to his ribs.

Classification of KF3: 1. Lorandi Alessio points 186; 2. Albanese 138; 3. Iacovacci 114; 4. Tommasin 85; 5. Corberi, Bertonelli, Angelillo e Pulcini 62; 9. Baiz 61; 10. Durante 59.

The victory of race one in the 60 Mini went to the American Logan Sargeant (Tony Kart-Lke) from Remigio Garofano (Top Kart-Lke) and the classification leader Leonardo Lorandi (Tony kart-Lke). Lorandi was also protagonist of race two where thanks to a spectacular overtaking with two corners to the end he passed on the outside three rivals in a single move: the Czech Lukas Podobky (Birel-Lke), Garofano and the Ukraine Makar Mizevich (Top Kart-Lke), who ended behind a stunning Leonardo Lorandi.

Classification of 60 Mini: 1. Lorandi Leonardo points 188; 2. Garofano 176; 3. Sargeant 111; 4. Alex 103; 5. Colombo 76; 6. Podobsky 72; 8. Mizevich 64; 8. Mazzola 60; 9. Marseglia 39; 10. Muizziddin 39.

In the second Final the victory went to Gabriel Costa (Top Kart-Parilla) from Zailinger and Fusco. Corso was happy in fourth place that awarded him (virtually for now) with the championship win.
