30/09/2012 – The Italian CSAI Karting championship ended in Ortona with an exciting finale also due to the weather conditions that saw rain showers several times wetting the International Circuit of Abruzzo keeping the interest high until the last chequered flag.

At the end the titles still to be awarded went to Federico Pezzolla in KF2, at the end of two very tight finals, while in KF3 and in 60 Mini the two Lorandi brothers, namely Alessio and Leonardo, secured the two Italian titles.

In KZ2 Alessandro Giulietti honoured at best his presence in the last race of the season winning the two finals of Ortona after securing the title in previous event at Castelletto.

This season to be archived saw in three occasions (Ugento, Siena and Castelletto) the presence of the smallest category, the 60 Baby, that was won by Salvatore Corso.

IN KF2 PEZZOLLA IN EXTREMIS. All the finals of Ortona produced a lot of spectacle but the most interesting category has probably been KF2 where Federico Pezzolla (Kosmic-Tm) managed to turn forecasts upside down as the favourites for the title were Andrea and Marco Moretti that were leading the classification with 20 points to Pezzolla.
Gianni Vigorito (Birel-Tm) tried to find a place among the three in a very exciting final rush. The first finale was characterized by rain and a lot of overtaking but at the end the 40 points of the win went to Pezzolla, despite his spin at the start of the race. In Final 2 Andrea Moretti got the win instead as he produced a bold race even if useless in terms of the final classification as the mandatory discard of 3 results on the 10 finals, made Andrea slip from 214 to 174 points, while Pezzolla from 207 went down to 176, that was 2 more than Moretti.
At the end of the race celebrations and joy at team Taglienti with Pezzolla winning his second Italian title in a row after the title won last year in KF3. Bitterness instead at Moretti's as the two brothers Andrea and Marco ended in second and third place with 174 and 170 points, while Vigorito ended fourth at 162 points. The Japanese Fuma Horio (Super Winforce-Parilla) followed in fifth at 120.

IN KF3, LEADER ALESSIO LORANDI. The KF3 classification was decided before the two finals as, with less than 15 drivers at the start, as happened in Ortona, regulations award half points and the advantage obtained by Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Vortex) in the previous races was un-fillable by everyone. Alessio Lorandi honoured at best also this round and gave his contribution to the one-two-three of Baby Race in Final 1 with the second place behind Leonardo Grison and ahead of
Francesco Iacovacci, while he produced a good recover in Final-2 due to the grid inversion, and won leading Matteo Mazzucchelli (Kosmic-Tm) and Antonio Romanucci (Birel-Bmb).
Lorandi ended the championship on top of the classification with 191 points, followed by Albanese at 138 and Iacovacci at 122.

60 MINI TO THE YOUNG LEONARDO LORANDI. The other title to be awarded was the 60 Mini, that was defined at the end of the two finals, with Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-Lke) of Baby Race winning the race ahead of his team mate, the Indonesian Peter Martono Presley, and his championship rival Remigio Garofano (Top Kart-Lke). Thanks to the points obtained in the first finale Leonardo Lorandi managed to get the mathematical certainty of the Italian title. The second finale saw Lorenzo Colombo of Emilia Kart winning ahead of his team mate Christian Cobellini (both on Top Kart-Lke) and of the young Japanese Ryuta Ueda (Birel-Parilla). Leonardo Lorandi scored at total of 206 punti, Remigio Garofano 182.

IN KZ2 GIULIETTI CELEBRATES WITH AN HAT TRICK. In KZ2 Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) celebrated the championship already in his hands scoring in Ortona a good double victory. In race-1 behind him ended Massimo Dante (CKR-Tm) and Roberto Profico (FK-Tm), in race-2
Emanuele Simonetti (Pcr-Tm) and Valerio Rossi (Tony Kart-Vortex). In the standings Giulietti reached 208 points, Dante follows at 136 and Celenta at 126.

Barberini (CKR-Tm), Alberto Cialini (CRG-Tm), Antonio Tramontana (Spirit-Tm) and Stefano Scarlino (FA Kart-Tm).

In category PRO the final winner was Nicola Cogato (Intrepid-Tm) from Luca Bombardelli (CKR-Tm) who produced a good recover though from the seventh place of the Pre-final. On the podium were also Marco Tessarolo (Maranello-Tm), Emanuele Ciaponi (Zanardi-Tm) and Simone Colombo (CKR-Tm).
