A total of 335 drivers officially started the Italian ACI Karting Championship 2022 in Franciacorta

The Italian ACI Karting Championship is underway at the circuit of Castrezzato (Brescia) with an exceptional presence of 335 verified drivers coming from 27 countries. The finals, Live on TV, will be on Sunday, May 22.

Castrezzato (BS), May 20, 2022. Qualifying practice on Friday with an exceptional presence of 335 drivers, kicked off officially the Italian ACI Karting Championship at the Franciacorta Karting Track (Brescia). These drivers represent 27 countries not only from Europe but also Japan, India, Panama, Canada, the United States, South Africa, New Zealand and Korea.

A RECORD PARTICIPATION.
The participation in MINI is great with 120 very young drivers (aged between 8 and 12), 80 of which will be competing in the international-level MINI Gr.3 and 40 in 60 Minikart national. The participation in KZ2 is quite good too as 54 drivers made it onto the track, as in the other categories of the KZ National (Under and Senior) which totalled 73 drivers. The IAME X30 Junior and Senior Trophies counted 66 drivers, the Rok Junior and Senior 22.

QUALIFYING PRACTICE.
Qualifying practice has been run on Friday. The program will continue on Saturday with heats, while the double finals (race-1 and race-2) will be on Sunday.

60 MINI. In the first qualifying session of 60 Mini Edoardo Mario Sulpizio (TK Driver Academy/EKS-TM Racing) posted the fastest time in 55.453s, while the second session was topped by Giacomo Alessandri (Alessandri/IPK-TM Racing) in 55.562s.

MINI Gr.3. MINI Gr.3 run three sessions. Session-1 was headed by the Spanish driver Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) in 55.649s, Session-2 by the Japanese Kosei Oguma (BabyRace Driver Academy/Parolin-Iame) in 55.278s, who pipped the Pole Borys Lyzen (Alonso Kart by Kidix/Alonso Kart-Iame) by 0.002s and the Italian Filippo Sala (Team Driver/Tony Kart-Iame) by 0.003s. The quickest of the third session was Iacopo Martinese in 55.515s (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame).

KZ2. Two sessions were run in KZ2: the first was led by Nicola Rossini (BRM/BRM-TM Racing) in 46.642s, who was 0.005s clear of Mirko Torsellini (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame); in Session-2 Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame), who just returned from the race of the European Championship in Genk, had the upper hand posting a 46.433s.

X30 JUNIOR. The fastest of the only round of X30 Junior was Filippo Tornaghi (Zanchi Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame) in 50.761s.

X30 SENIOR. Two sessions were held in X30 Senior: the charts of the first one were topped by Andrea Giudice (Foo Drivers/Energy-Iame) in 49.058s. He was 0.004s clear of Arnaud Malizia (Autoeuropeo/Tony Kart-Iame); Manuel Scognamiglio (Gamoto/Tony Kart-Iame) went quickest in the second session with a lap completed after 49.002s, which was 0.015s faster than Francesco Marenghi’s time (Zanchi Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame) and 0.07s of Sebastiano Pavan’s (Team Driver/Tony Kart-Iame).

KZN UNDER. KZN Under also run two qualifying sessions: the first was headed by Leonardo Pelosi (Pelosi/Maranello-TM Racing) in 47.906s, who proceeded Massimiliano Casagranda (Tectav/BirelART-TM Racing) by 0.003s; the pole position of the second session went to Domenico Tiranno (DFM/DFM Racing-TM Racing) in 47.866s.

KZN SENIOR. A big fight has been on in the only session of KZN Senior. Andrea Tonoli (TecTav Racing/BirelART-TM Racing) had the upper hand in 47.982s and led the Italian Champion Roberto Profico (Profico/Tony Kart-TM Racing) by 0.002s.

ROK JUNIOR. The pole position of Junior Rok went to Mattia Jentile (Zanchi Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex) in 50.536s, who was 0.077s faster than Giulio Mazzolini (Marra61/Tony Kart-Vortex).

ROK SENIOR. In Senior Rok, Marco Ravera (Newman Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex) was the fastest in 49.482s, while Alexander Panaev (Ape Racing/Tony Kart-Vortex) was 0.029s shy of the top in P2.

Saturday, May 21: warm-up at 8:00; heats at 10:20; second chance races at 19:20.
Sunday, May 22: warm-up at 8:00; second chance races at 9:35. Live TV and streaming: race-1 from 10:10; race-2from 14:30. The Live TV coverage of the event is on ACI Sport TV (Sky 228), Live Streaming and on-demand on www.acisport.it and on the Facebook page of the Italian Karting Championship.
