Sarno (Salerno), August 28, 2022.

It has been an eventful weekend for the Italian ACI Karting Championship that lived its fourth round at the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno with 281 drivers coming from 50 nations to contest categories KZ2, OK, OKJ, MINI Gr.3, 60 Mini, X30 Junior and X30 Senior.

Twists came not only due to the aggressiveness of drivers which ended up in some changes in the final results but also to the weather conditions that changed the closing day: a good sun blessed the morning and final-1s, while heavy rain affected the afternoon and induced a delay of a few hours to complete the event.

ERRATA - OK and OKJ – The Italian titles go to Gabriel Gomez (OK) and Leo Robinson (OKJ). The fourth round of the Italian Championship has included the single round valid for the OK and OK-Junior titles. The OK title went to the Brazilian driver Gabriel Gomez (CRG Racing Team/CRG-Iame-MG) after a 5s time penalty handed to the British driver Freddie Slater (Ricky Flinn Motorsport/LN-Vortex) due to an irregularity that damaged Gomez, who was leading the race. The victory and Italian title went therefore to Gabriel Gomez (CRG Racing Team/CRG-Iame-MG), Freddie Slater was second and the Swede Oscar Pedersen (Ward Racing/Tony Kart-Vortex) third. In OKJ the final was stopped due to the heavy rain and the title eventually went to Algeria’s Leo Robinson, who competed for the British team Ricky Flinn. He won the closing race that has been nearly completely run in the slow regime, leading the two drivers of team Koski Motorsport on Tony Kart-Vortex, the Australian Griffin Peebles and Dmitry Matveev.

KZ2 – Albanese and Torsellini share the success in the two finals.
In KZ2 Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-MG) put his name forward to the title by winning race-1 from Moritz Ebner (LG Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing), who was the first of Under 18, and his teammate Mirko Torsellini. A 5 seconds time penalty stripped Albanese of the joy of the second victory of the day but did not prevent him from getting again on the podium in P3. Race-2 was won by Mirko Torsellini, who led Leonardo Marseglia (KCS/BirelART-TM Racing) al secondo posto.

MINI Gr.3 – Victory to Martinese and Kamyab.
In MINI Gr.3 race-1 was won by Filippo Sala (Team Driver/KR-Iame-MG), who crossed the finish as the first proceeding Iacopo Martinese (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), but the final classification was changed and Martinese promoted to P1 with Sala relegated to P2 due to an irregularity in his closing overtaking move before the chequered flag. The third place in race-1 went to the Brit Roman Kamyab (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame). Kamyab won race-2 by 0.007s from Filippo Sala. The third place went to Iacopo Martinese, again the protagonist taking the lead in the classification.

60 Mini – Good success for Stanley and Noviello.
In 60 Mini the Spaniard Nicola Stanley (Gamoto/EKS-TM Racing-MG) claimed the victory in race-1 leading his teammate Samuele Giannini and Edoardo Colucci (CMT/Parolin-TM Racing), who won the Under-10 classification. Race-2 was won by Giuseppe Noviello (TK Driver/EKS-TM Racing), who proceeded Edoardo Mario Sulpizio (TK Driver/EKS-TM Racing), who completed an excellent recovery race and won the Under-10. The third place went to the competitive Mariachiara Nardelli (Nardelli/Parolin-TM Racing).

X30 Junior – Apicella and Maman on the top step of the podium.
In race-1, the first to cross the finish line of X30 Junior was Riccardo Leone Cirelli (Autoeuropeo/Tony Kart-Iame-Komet), but a 5s time penalty relegated him to P7. The victory went therefore to Antonio Apicella (Team Driver/Kosmic-Iame), who had the upper hand on his teammate Davide Bottaro and Stefano Pedani (Italcorse Racing Team/Italcorse-Iame). Race-2 was wet and Giacomo Maman (TB Kart Racing Team/TB Kart-Iame) claimed a solid win leading Riccardo Leone Cirelli and Mattia D’Erme (MD Kart/Tony Kart-Iame).

X30 Senior – Carenini is the Italian Champion for the third time in a row.
Danny Carenini (Team Driver/Tony Kart-Iame-Komet) dominated the category again taking the win in the closing stages of race-1 and race-2. This full haul allowed the Italian driver of Team Driver to win the category for the third time in a row. In race-1 Carenini led Cristian Comanducci (PRK-Tony Kart-Iame) and Andrea Giudice (Foo Drivers/Energy-Iame), while in race-2 Daniele Vezzelli (MLG Racing/Parolin-Iame) and Francesco Pio Scognamiglio (Ankart/RedSpeed-Iame) were respectively second and third.
