The driver Simone Campedelli and his historic navigator Danilo Fappani have made some fruitful first steps on the Ford Fiesta R5 in the test run on Monday 2 June in the outskirts of Sassari to refine the final technical details ahead of the forthcoming most outstanding event of the year.

The fourth round of the Italian Rally Championship will in fact take place at the Rally Italia Sardegna, the only Italian round of the World Rally Championship (WRC). The interpreters of the Italian series are to set off right after those of the WRC in an event awarding fans with a double spectacle.

The prologue to the race in Sardinia will be the prestigious spectacle stage in Cagliari city center on Thursday 5 June at 21.00 (local time) as the drivers of the World Rally Championship and those of the Italian Rally Championship will challenge each other on a tarmac track specially devised for the occasion. Cars will be moved to Alghero in the night and the first sector will take place on Friday 6 June at 13.37 with 4 stages covering a total of 80km that will keep drivers busy until 21.15.

The restart from Alghero on Saturday 7 June is set for 7.20 as the second day will involve a single "monstre” stage of 59km that is considered by staff as one of the most spectacular and challenging of the whole world rally championship's calendar. The fearful stage "Monte Lerno” will certainly be crucial for the classification and will proceed the arrive ceremony on the rostrum in Alghero at 14.30 followed by the press conference that will be aired live on Rai Sport 2. The appointment for fans is also on Facebook, Twitter and Rallylink to follow Team Ford Racing live from the stages.

Simone Campedelli: "I think this race is comparable to a normal race of the Italian calendar as regarding mileage, even if we will find quite extreme conditions due to WRC. All is still new to us as we do not have experience with our car on the gravel but, on the other hand, we have quite a good knowledge of the itinerary in Sardinia, therefore we will try and get the most out of it.
Our goal is to try and get as many points as possible for Ford's constructors classification running a wise race without taking too many risks."
