The 37th edition of Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi will start in Pergusa on the weekend of 14-15 May, the fifth edition that will be run with the Wolf GB08 Thunder, a union between ACI Sport and Wolf Racing Cars that has relaunched and revitalized the prestigious Italian series and that has always guaranteed 20 cars on the grid with a large foreign presence, spectacle and balance on the track and, above all, more and more young drivers as confirmed by the 2022 edition at the starting line.

The Wolf GB08 Thunder has proved to be a formative car, preparing the drivers coming from Karting for the career in GT or LMP. This is proved by the many young drivers that after one or two seasons at the wheel of the Wolf have continued their career in Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo, this year they are 5, or in the European Sportscar Championship, the 2022 confirms this trend with 7 absolute rookies. We will see in fact on the starting grid the Swedish brothers Linus and Emil Hellberg, the 15 year old Frenchman Joylon Raccamier, the 18 year old Colombian Lucas Medina, the Serbian Alex Beatovic, and the Italians Giovanni Mazza and Andrea De Caro, who is also freshly 18 year old, for a total of 15 participants between Rookie and Under and 9 Master.

The presence of foreign drivers rises to 11 drivers with representatives of 5 countries, in addition to the Italians: 4 drivers from Sweden, 3 Colombians, 2 drivers from France, 1 from the United States and 1 from Serbia. At a technical level everything remains unchanged, only the introduction of the mandatory on board camera, of an exhaust system that will lower the noise level and of an upgrade to the data acquisition system that will facilitate the work of the teams and the growth of the drivers during the season.

For the conquest of the overall title, surely the cousins Giacomo and Matteo Pollini will make use of their experience and, together with Davide Uboldi and Matteo Roccadelli, they are among the most quoted contenders for the final victory. Surprises on the track, however, are never to be understimated.  A careful eye in this sense will be kept on the Colombian Lucas Medina, already very fast in the pre-season tests of Binetto. The same attention will be paid to the Swedish Simon Hulten and Erik Stilmann, while Filippo LazzaroniAndrea Baiguera and Alessio Salvaggio are expected to step-up their game this year. Among the possible revelations for the season a mention must also be dedicated to Andrea Mosca, in an important crescendo in 2021, David Acosta and the Japanese of Barletta, Giancarmine Spadaro, also known as "Torosaki".

Also very anticipated is the return in the cockpit of Ettore Bassi, a well-known Italian actor with considerable experience in motorsport. In 2022 also the debut of the French Sonia Roussel, the only dame in Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi.

The appointment with all fans is therefore in Pergusa, in the ACI Racing Weekend on May 15, which will storm the Sicilian track with intense battles and many activities on the track in an event not to be missed. For information on the event and tickets: https://www.liveticket.it/autodromopergusa
