The premiere of 2022 Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi is a show worthy of the high expectations that ACI Sport's tricolor with Wolf Racing Cars has earned over time. The first win goes to Giacomo Pollini, who started in pole position and held the lead until the checkered flag, but not without excitement. He also set the fastest lap with 1'39.299.

P2 for Matteo Roccadelli, who grabbed the podium with a move on the last turn. Roccadelli started from the back of the grid and was the author of a spectacular comeback. Finishing third was Davide Uboldi, who brought home the excellent result by making up for a mistake that forced him to fight in the finale with Matteo Pollini.

Matteo Pollini gets P4 in a race that even had his participation in jeopardy after yesterday's accident on the Schumacher chicane, but thanks to the great work of the team he was able to be at the start and brought home important points. 5th is Andrea Mosca, winner of the Master rankings. Sixth and seventh place for foreign contenders Emil Hellberg and Simon Hulten. Then comes 8th Alessio Salvaggio, home driver here at the Pergusa circuit, who, with the grid inversion, thus secures the pole start in today's 15.30 race.
P9 for David Acosta, who, like Pollini, saw today's restart in jeopardy as a result of yesterday's problems, but for him, too, the team managed to solve and the result came as early as the first race. Rounding out the top 10 and second in the Masters standings was Ettore Bassi.

Unfortunately, Erik Stilmann, was the only one of the drivers who had had problems in the previous days who could not line up on the starting grid; while the race immediately lost a major player with the retirement of Lucas Medina. The Colombian's Wolf GB08 Thunder went off in the formation lap, the driver then had to start from the pit lane, but an electrical problem prevented him from doing so, forcing him to retire. Andrea Di Caro, one of the absolute rookies, had a good first part of the race, starting well and gaining positions, arriving in P5 to fight for the lead, but then it was perhaps the tension of the debut that played a nasty trick on him, with his car spinning and finishing 12th behind Santiago Mejia. P13 to Linus Hellberg, followed by third on the Masters podium, Giuseppe Castellano. Then Giovanni Mazza and Sonia Roussel.

Filippo Lazzaroni, after starting on the front row and holding firmly in P2 for most of the race, after also attempting attacks on Matteo Pollini to gain the win, loses position on Uboldi and, in the last turn, follows him into the mistake by coming long, sliding on a dirty track. He lost positions, but after a few laps was forced to stop due to technical problems and finished last in the race.

Retire instead for Andrea Baiguera, author of an extraordinary race, he gains and maintains P4 until he is involved in a contact during the battle with Roccadelli who was following in his wake. His car re-enters the pit in with an open rear tyre.

Also retiring was Frenchman Jolan Raccamier, a technical problem his that forced him to drop out of the race early on and pull over to the side of the track.

Giacomo Pollini: "A very good lap yesterday gave us pole, today I had a great pace. The car was fine, it was perfect. I struggled a little bit to keep the first position because I didn't get a perfect start. Then Lazzaroni tried to come in front, but after the first turn I kept my pace. I had a little bit more than the others. Safety cars are always an unknown, I handled them pretty well and took the win. For Race 2 the pace is there, it's not easy to overtake on this track but we all put it on."
