Prema Racing again in the fastest group with Kimi Antonelli signing a 2'22.501 lap, the fastest in the first day. He was followed by his teammate, Dane Conrad Laursen, maintening the gap in the hundredths (+0.077). Third best time to Alexander Dunne (+0.309), the Irishman of US Racing had achieved an excellent result at the first Championship round, but didn’t get the same exceptional output then at Misano. Now, in the first European appointment of the 2022 Championship, for the first time at the drivers’ university of Spa-Francorchamps, Dunne is once again determined to stay in the leading group on the ups and downs of the Belgian track. He was followed by the rest of the quintet deployed by Prema Racing: Charlie Wurz (+0.325), Rafael Camara (+0.328) and James Wharton (+0.545).

Very good first practice at Spa-Francorchamps over the weekend for Nikhil Bohra, US Racing, who set the fifth best lap in practice with a gap of +0.608. Having not taken to the track this morning in the first session due to a technical problem with his car, he was immediately fast on his first approach this evening. Eighth best time for Kacper Sztuka (+0.804), again a driver from the German team of Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar, followed by Taylor Barnard (PHM Racing) at +0.964. Last to stay within a second from the leader, with the 10th best lap of the session, is Brando Badoer, Italian driver, racing with Van Amersfoort Racing. Badoer closes his second session with a gap of +0.974.

Good performance then also for Nikita Bedrin, winner of the Rookie class in 2021, racing now with PHM Racing to win the Championship, followed by the American Arias Deukmedjian and the Norwegian Martinius Stenshorne, a driver duo that keeps the colors of Van Amersfoort Racing in the top 15. 14th best time is for the Frenchman of US Racing, Marcus Amand, followed by the Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi Jr.

It is precisely the driver of the team owned by Frits Van Amersfoort, racing at Spa-Francorchamps, who can boast the record of having raced on the rollercoaster of the Ardennes over his father (2-time Formula 1 World Champion). Emerson Fittipaldi Senior, in fact, has never in his great career competed on this circuit, only approaching the Belgian track last year, during an exhibition.

Problems instead for Valerio Rinicella's first time in the Italian F.4 Championship certified by FIA. Right at the debut of the young driver from Lazio, competing under the flag of Marco Antonelli's team, AKM Motorsport, his car ended broke a suspension and went out of the track on turn 18, just a few minutes before the end. The resulting red flag wrapped up this evening's session slightly early.

On track again tomorrow, Saturday 18 June, with qualifying in two 15-minute sessions, with a 10-minute stop in between, starting at 9.50. Also on Saturday, Race 1 at the start at 14.00. Race 2 on Sunday 19 at 9.40, while the last race of the weekend will start at 17.25.

The three races will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV and in live streaming on the Facebook and Youtube channels of the Italian F.4 Championship.
