The circuit of Monza is going to close the curtains on season 2021 of the Italian GT Championship with the fourth round of the Endurance Series. The GT3, GT Cup and GT4 cars will be at the fast circuit of Monza from Friday on to take the seven Italian titles that are up for grabs, as the overall title sees three lineups within just five points.

GT3: Giancarlo Fisichella is going to be absent due to the conflicting international appointment with the 6 Hours of Bahrain, therefore Stefano Gai and Daniel Zampieri (Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo) will contend the title to Drudi-Ferrari-Agostini (Audi R8 LMS) and Amici-Di Folco-Middleton (Lamborghini Huracan). The Audi Sport Italia’s drivers are leading the classification at 40 points and enjoy a better situation in terms of discards compared to the Scuderia Baldini and Imperiale Racing’s drivers that are respectively three and five points short of the lead. Mathematics does not rule out Carrie Schreiner yet, but the German driver of AF Corse in the 488 GT3 Evo with Sean Hudspeth and Davide Rigon, is 14 points shy of the top and the chances to take the title are quite slim.

The other Italian titles still to be decided include that of GT3 PRO-AM, which has been dominated by the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo of the American Steve Earle (Kessel Racing) who, together with co-equipers Niccolò Schirò and David Perel, will have to manage the seven points lead on Simon Mann, who is going to be at the start with Tony Vilander (AF Corse) and nine points on Di Amato-Vezzoni (RS Racing). Carrie Schreiner also has some slim chances in the GT3 PRO-AM but the AF Corse’s driver will have to win the race while her rivals should retire for her to take the title.

The GT3 AM title has already been awarded to Magnoni-Zanotti (Honda NSX GT3). The Nova Race’s drivers will be sided by Jacopo Guidetti in Monza and now are unreachable by their rivals.

The entry list of the closing round of the season will include a second Audi R8 LMS for Salaquarda-Postiglione-Mancinelli, the BMW M6 GT3 of Comandini-Zug-Spengler, the Lamborghini Huracan of Bottiroli-August-Jirik (Imperiale Racing) and the two Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo of Greco-Hofer (Easy Race) and Cuhadaroglu-Fumanelli (Kessel Racing).

GT CUP/GT4: The title quest in this category will be an internal affair at SR&R as Lorenzo Becagli, who will share the Ferrari 458 Challenge with Simone Laureti and JM Littman, is alone on top of the classification with a seven points margin on teammates Demarchi-Barbolini (Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo). Neri-Fascicolo-Nilsson (BMW M4 GT4) will conclude their catwalk in GT4 awarding Ceccato Motors with the title thanks to the four wins already taken.

Program and TV coverage: The closing weekend of the season will kick off on Friday with two free practice sessions (from local 10 to 11 and from 13.40 to 14.40) and will continue on Saturday with the third and closing round from 8.30 to 9.15 and the three qualifying sessions from 12.55 to 14. The three-hour-long race will get green lights on Sunday at 13.45 and will be covered live by RAISPORT from 15,30, in streaming at www.acisport.it/CIGT, www.raisport.rai.it, Facebook www.facebook.com/CIGranTurismo and YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-QsHUuslO4iZekAeBoskgg/featured
