The classic turning point of the Italian GT Championship Sprint series season will get underway at the Mugello Circuit this coming weekend. The Tuscan circuit will welcome nearly twenty lineups for the third round of the Sprint series that will run two races on the length of 50 minutes + 1 lap with the prestigious cars of categories GT3, GT Light and GT4 on track.

GT3

Two wins in four races place Vito Postiglione and Jeroen Mul as the drivers to beat on the challenging circuit in Mugello. The Imperiale Racing’s pairing on the Lamborghini Huracan will have to face the competition of Fuoco-Hudspeth (Ferrari 488-AF Corse), that are 18 points adrift in the standings, and Comandini-Johansson (BMW M6 GT3-BMW Team Italia) that have a 24 points gap to the top. A special eye will have to be kept on Agostini-Rovera (Mercedes AMG GT3-Antonelli Motorsport) that won race-2 in Vallelunga and that are 25 points shy of the top but ready to bounce back after the two unlucky races in Imola.

The Lamborghini’s lot will be completed by the second car fielded by Imperiale Racing for Pietro Perolini and Ben Gersekowski and by the Huracan run by LP Racing for Cuneo-Magnoni, while the other Ferrari 488 will be driven by Di Amato-Vezzoni (RS Racing), that came third in Imola, Veglia-Casè (Easy Race) and Mann-Cioci (AF Corse).

The German Pierre Kaffer that won the 24 Hours of Nurburgring will be back in the Italian series with Audi Sport Italia. He will share the R8 LMS with Andrea Fontana, while the second Mercedes AMG GT3 of Antonelli Motorsport will be driven by Nicola Baldan.

GT LIGHT

Three cars will be present in the class reserved to the single-make cars and to older GT3. The favourites to the win are Alberto Lippi and Giorgio Sernagiotto (Ferrari 458 Italia-RAM Autoracing/Iron Lynx) that are leading the classification with four wins, but will have to face the challenge of teammates Paolino-Jirik (Lamborghini Huracan-Hiron Lynx) and that of the 16 years old driver Mattia Michelotto (Lamborghini Huracan ST-Antonelli Motorsport).

GT 4

The standings in this GT4 is quite compact and the circuit in Mugello will certainly stage another duel for the lead between BMW and Porsche. Thanks to the victory and the second place in Imola, BMW Team Italia’s Fascicolo-Guerra took the lead of the classification 5 points clear of Riccitelli-De Castro (Porsche Cayman-Ebimotors), that won both races in Vallelunga. Ghezzi-Camathias (Porsche Cayman-Autorlando) will try and slide in the fight for the top after winning Imola’s race-1, but also the two Ginetta G55 Nova Race of Luca Magnoni and Marchetti-Mantori will have their say as the two Porsche Cayman of Piccioli-Costa (Ebimotors) and Cerati-Chiesa (Autorlando). The Polish drivers, father and son, Piotr and Antoni Chodzen will be back behind the wheel of the Maserati Gran Turismo run by SVC after their debut race of the season in Imola.
