The Rally Italia Sardegna has once again earned noteworthy recognition from international governing bodies. This year marked the 20th edition of the Island's race, and it was granted the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation. This accreditation, bestowed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, aims to support stakeholders in the global motorsport community in assessing improvements in environmental performance. Rally Italia Sardegna initially received this recognition in 2017, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Automobile Club d’Italia and the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna.

The criteria used by the FIA for its evaluations encompass the management of the rally headquarters and service park before and during the event, waste management, energy and water management, and air quality. Particularly noteworthy is the reduction in CO2 emissions, which was achieved through the planting of a substantial number of trees. Another notable aspect was the energy-saving awareness program related to safe driving for electric vehicles, one of the several activities that accompanied the Italian round of the FIA World Rally Championship from June 1st to 4th, 2023.

This recognition further underscores Rally Italia Sardegna's dedication to environmental conservation, as acknowledged by FIA officials: "Since first receiving FIA Environmental Accreditation in 2017, WRC Rally Italia Sardegna has continually demonstrated improvements in its environmental performance." The Automobile Club d’Italia, in collaboration with the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, will persist in upholding and refining this commitment in the years to come.
