Four days of competition. 630 kilometres, between history, culture, engines and chronometers. It is, in a nutshell, the sports program drawn up by the Automobile Club Palermo and Automobile Club Italia, through ACI Sport, with the support of ACI Storico, for the preparation of the Targa Florio Classica 2019 and the Targa Florio Legend.

Three legs, plus one. A retrospective journey through “Sicily of the engines”, the one of Vincenzo Florio and of those who today preserve their memories and emotions.

On Palermo the attention before the start of the competition will be concentrated at the Historical Museum of Motors and Mechanisms, ACI Storico affiliate, of the museum system of the University of Palermo, headquarter of the sports village, and Piazza Verdi in the centre of the Palermo capital. From Thursday 10, the squares of the university will become a sort of modern "paddock" where the crews will prepare for the checks and punching of the cars. In the late afternoon of Thursday, it will be the starting ceremony to open the event: the show that tradition wants with cars and pilots lined up in front and all around the Teatro Massimo in the starting point of the Targa Florio Classica, then the parade along the streets of the centre of Palermo.

The second day of competition on Friday 11, is the novelty of the "Targa Florio Classica". Challenging and exciting, extending for about 360 kilometres from Palermo will bring the competitors in Agrigento, to return to Palermo in the evening. The route includes the passage in the "heart" of the Conca d'Oro of Corleone, the crossing of the area of the Sicani Mountains and its centres of Chiusa Sclafani and the "City of the Oranges" of Ribera to reach the restorative break at the Chiaramonte Castle Siculiana. In the middle of the course of the second day of the "Cursa" the passage at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the largest archaeological park in the world, is planned. Sicily is an alchemy of sensorial emotions well outlined by the most important 20th century authors from Agrigento: Luigi Pirandello, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, Leonardo Sciascia and Andrea Camilleri, a learned writer and playwright who died recently in July. In the afternoon hours, Cianciana, Regalgioffoli and Caccamo will be the centres preceding Casteldaccia, where dinner will be held at the Cantine Duca di Sala Paruta. The arrival of the leg is scheduled for 10 pm at the Historical Engine and Mechanism Museum of Palermo.

Third leg is Saturday 12th, which will allow us to relive the epic story of motor challenges on the medium Targa Florio Circuit. It cannot be other than Floriopoli and the Tribune di Cerda emblematic passages in the history of "Cursa". 270 kilometres of leg, including the traditional passages of Caltavulturo, Polizzi Gerosa, Collesano and Campofelice di Roccella. Then the "ronde" of Cefalù, with lunch at the Sea Palace among the UNESCO World Heritage sites, then Gibilmanna, Lascari and Gratteri and return to Palermo passing through Termini Imerese, retracing the coast.

The total mileage of the race course is approximately 630 kilometres. Sunday 13 is the final day of the event with a highlight of the re-enactment of the Favorita Circuit, the last engagement whose participation is optional for the competitors and will not affect the ranking of the regularity race valid for the Italian Great Events Championship, not even the Targa Championship Florio Legend. It will be developed in a track of about 35 kilometres, punctuated by nine timed tests, two time controls and a stamp control, with passage from Real Tenuta della Favorita, from the Palazzina Cinese and arrival in Piazza Verdi in Palermo for the Arrival and Award Ceremony .

ACI Global Servizi, Official Sponsor of the event, will take care of transporting the participants' cars, from three locations in Northern Italy (Turin / Milan, Bologna and Brescia) to Palermo and back. Targa Florio Classica 2019 is joined by the Official Sponsors ACI Global Servizi, MAFRA, SARA and TAG HEUER, Official Timekeeper and by the Technical Partners Chin8Neri and Winner.
