Palermo, 16th October 2022. The Targa Florio Classica 2022 enhanced the performance of two Sicilian crews and saw four names of the island in the top 5 (all in the Fiat 508 C) in the race organized by AC Palermo with the support of ACI Storico and Automobile Club D'Italia. 

On the final day dedicated to the "Trofeo 100 Passi", the Targa Florio Classica 2022 honored the sacrifice of those killed in the Capaci massacre in the year of its 30th anniversary, with the deposition of the wreath by the Chairman of the Automobile Club d'Italia Angelo Sticchi Damiani, together with to Tina Montinaro (widow of the Chief Escort of Judge Falcone), to the Chief of Police Leopoldo Laricchia, to the President of the Court Antonio Balsamo, with the representatives of the Administration of Capaci. Automobile Club D’Italia, the Court of Palermo and other institutions have started a dialogue aimed at legality and young people. The prestigious vintage cars passed through the center of Capaci for the Trophy that commemorates the journalist Peppino Impastato, who fell in the name of his statements against cosa nostra.

Mario Passanante and Dario Moretti (Fiat 508 C of 1937) won at the end of an exciting challenge decided only on the last meters of the race, while Angelo Accardo, joined by Filippo Becchina, was second on the finish line. Francesco and Giuseppe Di Pietra, third ahead of Gianmario Fontanella and Annamaria Covelli in the 1939 Lancia Aprilia. Fifth place for the other drivers from Campobello di Mazara: Enzo Ciravolo and Francesco Messina.

The Championship duel won by Francesco and Giuseppe Di Pietra was also decided at the last meter. The crew preceded in the race standings Fontanella - Covelli, and they are now the new Italian Champions of Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi and winners of the Serie ACI Storico, which is developed not only on the Targa, but also on the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti and on the "Circuito Stradale del Mugello". Father and son bring the Italian title to Campobello di Mazara for the second time after 2018.

We recovered positions with a lot of will and we won our second title in the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi"-.

Victory in Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio 2022 for Fabio Vergamini and Anna Maria Fabrizi in the Ferrari 488 GTB of 2015. Second place for Mauro Ferrari and Maria Paola Saetti in the Ferrari Monza SP 2, ahead of the Ferrari Roma of Celestino and Oreste Sangiovanni.

Three days in which Sicily expressed all the affection for its race born in 1906, which led the crews and exclusive cars to discover many places on the island, many of which are inextricably related to car racing. The appreciation for the work of the Automobile Club d'Italia has come from many quarters, which with its support has guaranteed a solid future prospect for the race organized by AC Palermo.
