Monza: the grand finale of the 10th edition of the Italian GT Championship

The two races, that will decide the two titles still to be awarded of class GT3 and GT Cup 1st Division, record some new arrivals such as the Ferrari 458 Italia of AF Corse and Ombra Racing, the Porsche GT3R of Autorlando and the two Lamborghini Gallardos of Imperiale Racing. 17/10/2012 – The grand finale is getting ready in Monza for the 10th edition of the GT Italian Championship. The last two races of the season, scheduled for this coming weekend, will award the last two titles still to be decided, that are the GT3 and the GT Cup 1st Division and will also see on track some new lineups and teams that made the history of this championship.

The grand finale will also witness the debut of the Ginetta G 55 driven by Cressoni-Iacone (Nova Race) in class GT3, while AF Corse will make its comeback with two GT3 Ferraris 458 Italia, the first given to Adriano Baso, who will share the cockpit with a driver still to be decided, while the second will go to the lineup Sbirrazzuoli-Ramindra. Behind the wheel of the Maranello's car with the Ombra Racing livery will also be Cordoni-Ruberti, while the lineup Mancini-Magli will be on the 458 Italia belonging to Easy Race.

At the start, on the side of the two Porsche GT3R of Balzan-Barri (Ebimotors) and Passuti-Malucelli, the 911 of Autorlando that in the occasion will be given to the lineup Hamilton-Garofano.

The title fight will be wide open in class GT3 where the final win is contended by current classification leaders Biagi-Colombo (BMW Z4-ROAL Motorsport), Andrea Sonvico and Di Benedetto-Frassineti, with the latter competing on the Audi R8 LMS of Audi Sport Italia. The gaps on top are respectively of seven and nine points, but the mathematics does not cut out Balzan-Barri (Porsche GT3R-Ebimotors) yet, despite the twenty-five points gap to be filled.

The entry list of GT3 will be completed by the second BMW Z4 of Cerruti-Liberati, the Ferrari 458 Italia of Vita4One Team Italy driven by Comandini-Fornaroli, the McLaren MP4 12C of Neri-Van der Drift (Bhaitech Racing) and the Mercedes SLS of De Lorenzi-Necchi (GDL Racing). In GT2 the Ferrari F430 of Black Team will be back with the lineup Palma-Giammaria.

In GT Cup 1st Division, the final victory will be contended by Cicognani-Granzotto (Porsche 997-Antonelli Motorsport) and Sanna-Stancheris (Lamborghini Gallardo), with the latter two standing at 29 points from the top. They will be sided by two more lineups at Imperiale Racing, the first composed by Babini-Zadotti while the second by Wiser-Rizzo.

The last round of the season's programme schedules two qualifying sessions for Saturday (at 9.00 GMT+2 and 11.15). Race 1 will follow at 17.10, while the second race of the weekend will start on Sunday at 12.00. Both races will be run on 48 minutes plus a lap and will be live on TV on Sportitalia and web streaming at www.acisportitalia.it.
