Imola, victory to Frassineti-Beretta (Ferrari) in GT3 and of Pastorelli brothers (Porsche) in GT Cup

The 458 Italia back to the victory in the third round of the season, leadign the Audi R8 of Capello-Zonzini and the other coupe from Maranello driven by Casè-Gattuso. Porsche dominated GT Cup with three 997 on the podium. Race-2 scheduled for tomorrow at 11. Live coverage on Raisport 1.

The Ferrari 458 Italia was back to the victory in Imola as Alex Frassineti and Matteo Beretta got back on the top step of the podium after the victory in the opening round of Vallelunga.

Ombra Racing's drivers won race-1 of the 3rd round of the Italian GT Championship proceeding Capello-Zonzini (Audi R8 LMS-Audi Sport Italia) by 7"376s and Casè-Gattuso (Ferrari 458 Italia- Scuderia Baldini 27) by 7"924s. In GT3's classification, Bortolotti and Viberti (Imperiale Racing) still lead the charts at 56 points, followed by Casè and Gattuso (54), Berton and Schirò (50). The podium of GT Cup was all taken by Porsche, with Nicola and Luca Pastorelli (Krypton Motorsport) that proceeded Passuti-Goldstein (Antonelli Motorsport) and Bodega-De Castro (Drive Technology Italia).

Thanks to the second win of the season, Pastorelli brothers got the lead of the GT Cup classification at 58 points, as Maino and Selva (52) follow and proceed Zanardini and Perel (50). Race-2 will start tomorrow at 11m with live coverage on Raisport1.

Race-1: Postiglione managed to get the lead early on taking the poleman Biagi, as Frassineti, Schirò, Viberti, Babini, Capello, Casè and Pezzucchi followed, while Pastorelli took an early lead in GT Cup but had to concede the class leadership to Passuti then.

The race got interesting also behind the leaders, as at lap five Puglisi and Wright had a contact. The young driver of Solaris Motorsport had the worse of it spinning and then got sanded due to a dechapped tyre.

In GT Cup Monfardini got P3 behind Passuti and Pastorelli, while Zanardini was forced to pit due to a problem at the splitter before the final retirement at lap 9 due to a problem to the fuel pump.

In the same lap Viberti spun at Variante Alta losing two positions, while two laps later Frassineti managed to find his way past Biagi at Rivazza. Postiglione was leading the pack from Frassineti, Biagi, Schirò, Babini, Capello, Viberti, Casè and Pezzucchi at lap 11, when the pit window opened. As all cars were back on track, Beretta was in the lead from Donativi, Francioni, Zonzini, Berton, Casè and Camathias. Mugelli, had a contact with Bortolotti, and spun at Variante Alta, while Goldstein and Luca Pastorelli started a good duel for the first position of GT Cup ahead of Bodega.

At lap 22 Francioni, who had evident braking issues, hit Donativi at Variante Alta. The driver from Rome spun and lost four position, while the Racing Studios driver had to concede his position to Zonzini, Berton and Gattuso in the following laps, before the final retirement at lap 25.

The race got close to its end as Beretta was in the lead, while Gattuso got past Berton taking P3, behind Zonzini with two laps to go. At the flag positions did not change and Ombra Racing's driver claimed the victory – the second of the season – together with his co-equiper Frassineti, leading Capello and Gattuso. The fourth place was occupied by Berton who proceeded Camathias, Donativi, Gagliardini, Rugolo, Bontempelli and Ceccato, while the top step of GT Cup's podium was taken by Nicola and Luca Pastorelli, that took the lead of the class at lap 22, ahead of Passuti-Goldstein and Bodega-De Castro.
