Misano race two victories to Mapelli-Amici (Audi R8 LMS) in GT3 and Maino-Selva (Porsche 997) in GT Cup

First win for Audi Sport Italia's driver ahead of the two Ferrari lineups Schirò-Berton and Di Amato Mugelli. Tight battle on top of GT3 with four lineups within 9 points. Pastorelli brothers getting closer to their first GT Cup Italian title.

Mapelli-Amici claimed the victory of race-2 of the 6th round of the Italian GT Championship held at the Misano World Circuit. The Audi R8 LMS absence from the top step of the Italian podium since July 2014 and Audi Sport Italia managed to break this long fasting. Mapelli-Amici proceeded Schirò-Berton (Villorba Corse) by 0.228s and Mugelli-Di Amato (MP1 Corse) by 21"226, both on Ferrari 458 Italia.

The classification ahead of the final two races of Mugello is quite tight and four lineups are all packed within 9 points only. Stefano Gattuso is standing at 110 points, three more than Schirò and Berton, while Frassineti and Beretta follow 5 points short of the lead, his co-equiper Lorenzo Casè is 6 points shy of him and Bortolotti and Viberti end the group of GT3 title contenders.

Porsche dominated GT Cup with Maino-Selva (Ebimotors) on the top step of the podium ahead of team mates Valori-De Castro and Luca and Nicola Pastorelli, that pulled away in the classification leading the race winners by 10 points.

Race-2: Mapelli did not have problems to keep the lead at the start, follone by Bortolotti, Frassineti, Schirò, Venturi, Malucelli, Ferrara and Mugelli, while in GT Cup Mancinelli took the lead from Selva to Desideri. The heat of the initial stages made an early victim, Vincenzo Donativi broke his radiator in fact in a contact with Zonzini. Gagliardini was also stuck in the melee and had to rejoin from the back.

Ferrara hit Malucelli at lap three forcing the driver from Forlì to rejoin from P12. In GT Cup, Desideri spun after moving an attack to Selva and conceded the third position to Zanardini.

On top, Mapelli increased to more than two seconds his lead to Bortolotti at lap 6. Frassineti was third ahead of Schirò, Venturi, Ferrara, Mugelli Palma and Casè, but the driver from Rome had to give his position to Malucelli in the following lap.

Palma went wide at lap 10 as Malucelli and Casè took advantage of his mistake. Pastorelli, installed himself in P3 of GT Cup instead. The race got infame two laps after as Frassineti found his way past Bortolotti for P2.

Pit window opened at lap 12 but two laps later Frassineti had to pit due to a problem to a tyre. As all cars were back on track, Amici in for Mapelli, was on top proceeding Berton, Lucchini, Viberti, Giammaria, Di Amato andMagli, while Gattuso, due to the penalty for winning race-1, was relegated to P10. In GT Cup, Goldstein in for Mancinelli on top proceeded Maino, but the Eurotech Engineering driver had to let Ebimotors driver past at lap 21. At lap 22, Viberti took Lucchini for P3, as Giammaria did the same shortly after and Di Amato too at lap 25.

On top, Amici managed his advantage to Berton, while Giammaria charged for P3 engaging in a duel with Viberti, that ended at lap 29 when after the overtaking move by Giammaria, the two hit each other. The Ferrari had the worst and rejoined in P5.

The closing lap had further emotions, as Berton closed in on the leader Amici but the driver from Rome managed to fend off the attacks moved by Villorba Corse driver. Viberti in P3 was caught up by Di Amato who managed to find his way past the Lamborghini driver in the final lap.

At the flag, Mapelli took a splendid win ahead of Berton and Di Amato, while Viberti in P4 proceeded Giammaria, Gattuso, Lucchini, Comandini, Beretta and Gai. In GT Cup Maino took his second win of the season proceeding Valori and Pastorelli.
