Stefano Gattuso (Ferrari 458 Italia) is the winner of the Italian Grand Touring Championship of class GT3. The 31 years old from Bergamo of Scuderia Baldini 27 was crowned champion in Mugello at the end of a very tight race run alongside his coequiper Matteo Malucelli, as the pairing led the two Audis R8 LMS of Mapelli-Amici and Capello Zonzini (Audi Sport Italia). Behind Gattuso (130 punti) in the final classification, Mapelli and Amici (116), Bortolotti, Berton and Schirò (113), Viberti (110), Casè (107), Frassineti and Beretta (105).

The Italian GT Cup title, went instead to Luca and Nicola Pastorelli, at the wheel of the Porsche 997 of team Krypton Motorsport that, despite the retirement in the race, managed to end the season ahead of the Lamborghini Gallardo of Zanardini-Perel. In the final classification Luca and Nicola Pastorelli (153) led Maino and Selva (143), Perel and Zanardini (123).

Race-2: At the start Schirò led from Amici, Malucelli, Barri, Beretta, Camathias, Balzan, Viberti, Comandini and Zaugg, while Maino led the pack in GT Cup ahead of Perel and Pastorelli.

At lap 3, Camathias lost two positions to Balzan first and Viberti then, while Casè started his comeback from the sixteenth place of the grid. In GT Cup, Caso got the third place behind Maino and Perel, but the South African driver took the lead of the race. Maino at lap seven was penalized with a drive through for driving out of track limits.

At lap 9 Balzan found his way past Beretta for P5 as Viberti did shortly afterwards, but the twist in the championship fight came at the following lap when Zaugg, i.e. classification leader Bortolotti's coequipier, had to stop due to the failure of the engine of his Gallardo.

At lap 11, when the pit window opened, Beretta went wide and stopped in the gravel trap losing the seventh place, while the leading trio Schirò, Amici and Malucelli got very close with each other.

When all the cars came back on track, Mugelli who took over from Balzan, was on the lead followed by Venturini, who replaced Viberti, and then Berton, who took the wheel from Schirò and Gattuso from Malucelli. The fourth place was occupied by Zonzini ahead of Palma, Di Amato and Mapelli, as the latter was slowed down by the 30 seconds handicap.

At lap 19 Berton got past Venturini and the driver from Veneto overtook also Mugelli in the following lap taking the lead. MP1 Corse driver had to concede his position to Gattuso shortly afterwards as the latter started chasing Berton and Zonzini. In GT Cup, Zanardini proceeded Del Prete and Pastorelli, who had a contact with Magli and ended his race early with a spin.

On top, Berton's advantage to Gattuso decreased to 1”4, as the latter found his way past Venturini, who was followed by Zonzini, Mapelli, Di Amato and Palma. The fight on top got red hot as it was worth the GT3 title. Gattuso tried several times to find the right gap to take Berton.

Lap 23 decided the championship. At the S. Donato corner Gattuso sided his rival who managed to fend off the attack, but on the uphill section taking to the Poggio Seco turn, Scuderia Baldini 27 driver managed to muscle past the rival. Once on top, Gattuso pulled away from Berton, while Mapelli installed himself in P4 ahead of team mate Zonzini. In GT Cup, Zanardini confirmed his lead from Del Prete to Bodega, Comi and Selva.

At lap 25 Rugolo overtook Mugelli for P8, but MP1 Corse driver had a problem with a tyre in the final lap hitting the barriers. At the flag, Gattuso won the race and the GT3 title proceeding Berton, but Villorba Corse driver was handed a 10 seconds penalty for overtaking under yellow flags. The second place was therefore inherited by Mapelli ahead of Zonzini, Venturini, Palma, Di Amato, Gagliardini, Rugolo, Berton and Postiglione, while Zanardini claimed the fifth win of the season in GT Cup proceeding Del Prete and Comi.
