Venturi-Gai (Ferrari 488) and De Lorenzi-Necchi (Lamborghini Huracan) won race-2 in Monza, opener of the 14th edition of the Italian GT Championship. In the race valid for classes Super GT3 and GT3 Black Bull Racing drivers proceeded Di Folco-Agostini (Antonelli Motorsport) and Bortolotti-Mul (Imperiale Racing), both on Lamborghini Huracan, while the top step of the podium of GT3 was obtained by Monfardini-Valori that led the Porsche 997 of Luca and Nicola Pastorelli (Krypton Motorsport) and Venerosi-Baccani (Ebimotors).

In the race valid for classes Super GT Cup and GT Cup, the victory went to De Lorenzi-Necchi (GDL Racing), that started from the last row of the grid, as D'Amico-Zaugg (Raton Racing) were second and Baruch-Liang Ja (Sospiri Racing) third, all on Lamborghini Huracan. Benvenuti-Demarchi (Lamborghini Gallardo-Imperiale Racing) repeated the victory of race-1 in GT Cup leading the Porsche run by Ebimotors for Maino-Benucci and Lino and Carlo Curti. Venturi-Gai (Super GT3), Luca and Nicola Pastorelli (GT3), Croce-Costa (Super GTCup) and Benvenuti-Demarchi (GTCup) are currently leading the charts of the corresponding categories.

Race-2 SuperGT3 and GT3

The race started under the safety car regime due to the heavy rain. Behind the pace car, Mapelli, Gattuso, Agostini, Sini, Gai, Comandini and all the others. The restart was at lap three, as Agostini got past Gattuso taking P2, while Baccani proceeded Pastorelli and Galassi in GT3. Bortolotti started a good recovery early on taking Pezzucchi first and Comandini then. The driver from Rome was overtaken also by Bontempelli and at the following lap he cut the first chicane, showing that the setup of his car was not great on the wet.

On top, Mapelli gained more than three seconds on Agostini, while Sini defended his fourth place from Gai. The driver from Abruzzo had to concede his position to the Black Bull Racing's driver at lap six, as Valori got P2 of class GT3. Bortolotti gained another position at lap 7 when he found his way past Sini and, shortly after, the Aston Martin's driver managed to fend off the attacks moved by Bontempelli.

As all cars got back on track after drivers change Venturi (who took over from Gai) set a very quick pace overtaking Frassineti and Mul, launching the charge to the top two. Di Folco, who replaced Agostini, got the lead from Albuquerque, who had to serve the handicap time in the pits as he won race-1. At lap 17 the Audi driver got the lead thanks to a good overtaking move. Venturi got the most of the duel on top and, thanks also to a puncture for the Portuguese driver, got the lead of the race.

Once in the lead, the Ferrari driver did not have problems pulling away from Di Folco, Mul, Frassineti, Venturini, Linossi and Mugelli, followed by Mancinelli, who has been great to recover from the last place on the grid after the first stint run by Geri. The driver from Marche found his way past Mugelli at lap 20 and then he took Francesca Linossi, while Mul made several attempts to get past Di Folco. Surprises did not stop there though: at the penultimate lap Frassineti had to concede the fifth place to Mancinelli due to a puncture, while Francesca Linossi managed to get a great sixth place off Mugelli. At the flag, Venturi claimed a great win leading Di Folco, Mul, Venturini, Mancinelli, Linossi, Mugelli and Monfardini who managed to get the top step of the GT3 podium with co-equiper Valori.

Race-2 Super GTCup and GTCup

The second race of classes Super GT Cup and GT Cup took also place on the wet and the start was given under safety car regime. At the restart, Zaugg led Casè and Baruch. The two engaged in a great duel that awarded the Italian at lap 4, while Maino proceeded Carboni and Benvenuti in GT Cup. Carboni attacked Maino at lap 6 but the two had a contact: the driver from Rome had the worst and got a puncture damaging the rim ending his race in the pits. On top, Zaugg, Casè and Baruck were all within 3 seconds and proceeded Takashi and Tanca while a great Benvenuti got P2 behind Maino in GT Cup. The two started a good duel changing positions on top in a couple of occasions, as Sauto slided in the fight overtaking Lamborghini's driver.

At the end of the driver's change, Baruch co-equiper Liang Jia was on top leading D'Amico and Mantovani, while Benucci led Demarchi and Zanardini in GT Cup. De Lorenzi put the hammer down and managed to close in taking over from Necchi, who had started from the back due to a problem in qualifying. GDL Racing's driver and team manager installed himself in P4 at lap 15, when D'Amico also got the lead of the race. The leadership of GT Cup also changed to Demarchi who led Benucci, who was in turn good to fend off Zanardini. At lap 20 Ebimotors' driver could not keep his rival at bay and slipped down to third.

De Lorenzi came to the fore taking Mantovani and Liang Jia first and then D'Amico in the following lap taking the lead. The final twist came from Zanardini who erroneously pushed the pit limiter at the penultimate lap losing the second place of GT Cup. At the flag, De Lorenzi took his Huracan to the first victory of the season, a stunning result considering the start from the last row of the grid. He proceeded D'Amico, Liang Jia, Mantovani, Costa, Spiridinov and Demarchi, who was seventh absolute and first of GT Cup.
