Agostini-Rovera (Mercedes AMG GT3) win Vallelunga's race-2 at the opener of the Italian GT Championship Sprint

05/05/2019 - Antonelli Motorsport's drivers got on the top step of the podium leading Postiglione-Mul (Lamborghini Huracan) and Fontana-Kaffer (Audi R8 LMS). In the other classes, Lippi-Sernagiotto (Ferrari 458 Italia) repeated the win obtained in race-1 in GT Light and Riccitelli-De Castro (Porsche Cayman) in GT4.
After the victory going to Lamborghini in race-1, the Mercedes AMG GT3 of Riccardo Agostini and Alessio Rovera won the second race of the opener of the Italian GT Championship Sprint in Vallelunga. The Antonelli Motorsport's pairing crossed the finish line on top at the end of a difficult race due to the weather conditions. They completed the race in 52’43.367s proceeding Postiglione-Mul (Lamborghini Huracan-Imperiale Racing) by 1”720s and Fontana-Kaffer (Audi R8 LMS-Audi Sport Italia) by 9”690s. In the other classes the winners of race-1 claimed a second win: namely, Lippi-Sernagiotto (Ferrari 458 Italia) won GT Light and Riccitelli-De Castro (Porsche Cayman) GT4.
The overall classification of GT3 currently sees Postiglione, Mul, Agostini and Rovera on top at 35 points, while the first position of GT Light is occupied by Lippi and Sernagiotto at 40 points, and in GT4 Riccitelli and De Castro secured full points (40).

GT3: A difficult race made trickier by the rain fallen in the second stint and the hectic operations in the pits to change tyres was deservedly won by Riccardo Agostini and Alessio Rovera, that ended the first weekend of the season on a high after taking the pole position and claiming P2 in race-1. Antonelli Motorsport's pairing were in the lead during the first stint, with Agostini and got the lead back with Rovera at lap 24, as the latter was very skilled under the rain and on rain tyres engaging a nice duel with Fontana. In the closing stages, the 23 years old driver from Varese fended off Postiglione's comeback, who in turn took over from Mul, that had installed himself in P2 from Antonio Fuoco during lap eight. Imperiale Racing's drivers proceeded Fontana-Kaffer, that managed tyres wisely and got the lead in the second stint, but the 22 years old Audi driver could not defend the lead towards the end when the track was drying up.
The fifth place went to Di Amato-Vezzoni (Ferrari 488-RS Racing), that ended PRO/AM on top, thanks to a great second stint. They proceded the sister cars driven by Casè-Veglia (Easy Race), that were penalized by one place after the race for an irregular driver change, and by Fuoco-Hudspeth (AF Corse). The 22 years old from Cosenza managed the first part of the race perfectly holding P3 for a long time, but the difficult conditions of the second stint prevented the driver from Singapore to show his best.
The seventh place went to Nicola Baldan, who was at his maiden race in Italian GT on Mercedes AMG (Antonelli Motorsport). He was followed by the BMW M6 GT3 of Comandini-Johansson (BMW Team Italia), the Mercedes AMG of Palma-Larini and the two Lamborghini Huracan of Perolini-Gersekowski (Imperiale Racing) and Cuneo-Magnoni (Iron Lynx), that were the first of AM.

GT LIGHT: After the victory in race-1, the Sunday race rewarded against the efforts put in by Alberto Lippi and Giorgio Sernagiotto (Ferrari 458 Italia). Lippi got the lead on lap four proceeding Pisani and handed the car over to his co-equiper on top. The latter did not lose the first position until the chequered flag. Ram Autoracing/Iron Lynx's pairing proceeded the Porsche 911 (Duell Motorsport) driven by Pisani-Sauto, the Lamborghini Huracan of teammates Paolino-Jirik and the second Porsche 911 run by Duell Motorsport for La Mazza-Nicolosi.

GT 4: Simone Riccitelli and Sabino De Castro also claimed a double win in the entry-level class. They repeated the victory claimed in race-1 on the Porsche Cayman fielded by Ebimotors. The 16 years old drivers had the upper hand on Camathias on lap nine and took the lead of the race, while his co-equiper De Castro fought a long battle in the final with teammate Piccoli. At the flag, Ebimotors' drivers led Fascicolo-Guerra (BMW M4-BMW Team Italia), that recovered well from the starting P7, and teammates Piccioli-Costa. The fourth place went to Mattia Michelotto (Sin R1), but Antonelli Motorsport's driver was later on excluded from the classification due to a complaint from Nova Race. Luca Magnoni (Ginetta G55), teammates Marchetti-Mantori and Cerati-Chiesa, promoted seventh on the Porsche Cayman of Autorlando recovered one place in the final classification.
