Comandini-Johansson (BMW M6) win race-1 at the second round of the Italian GT in Imola

BMW Team Italia's drivers proceeded the two Ferrari 488 driven by Fuoco-Hudspeth and Veglia-Casè. The victory in the other classes went to Lippi-Sernagiotto (GT Light) and Grezzi-Camathias (GT4).

Stefano Comandini and Erik Johansson won race-1 at the second round of the Italian GT Championship run at the circuit of Imola. The pairing proceeded the two Ferrari 488 driven by Fuoco-Hudspeth (AF Corse) and Veglia-Casè (Easy Race).
In GT Light the top step of the podium went to Lippi-Sernagiotto (Ferrari 458 Italia-Ram Autoracing/Iron Lynx) that led Paolino-Jirik (Lamborghini Huracan-Iron Lynx), while Giuseppe Fascicolo and Francesco Guerra (BMW M4) crossed the finish line on top in GT4, but were handed a 5s time penalty and slipped down to P2 behind Ghezzi-Camathias (Porsche Cayman-Autorlando). Race-2 is scheduled for tomorrow at 11.40 with live TV coverage on AutomotoTV (Sky 228) and web streaming at www.Raiplay.it, www.acisport.it/CIGT and www.facebook.com/CIGranTurismo.
GT3: The victory of Comandini-Johansson arrived at the final lap, when at the restart after the safety car, Comandini had the upper hand on Hudspeth, leading his BMW M6 GT3 to the top step of the podium. BMW Team Italia's pairing run a recovery race as Johansson started from the eighth spot of the grid. The young Swede managed to close in on the front runners and decided to pit at the opening of the pit window handing the car over to Comandini. The Italian recovered several positions and installed himself in P2 on lap 17 when he overtook Casè. Hudpseth was the target and Comandini managed to close in on AF Corse's driver, trying to overtake him at Rivazza on lap 24. The safety car neutralized the race with 3 laps to go, but it restarted in the closing lap when Comandini found his way past the driver from Singapore taking the top step of the podium together with his co-equiper Johansson. Fuoco-Hudspeth closed behind them after a very strong first stint by the young Italian driver, who held P2 for a long time after getting past Veglia on lap seven. The latter and co-equiper Lorenzo Casè, secured the third step of the podium, leading Drudi-Fontana (Audi R8 LMS), that were on top during the first stint. The young Italian claimed the pole position and held P1 throughout the stint, while Fontana had to serve the time handicap due to the third place scored in Vallelunga, managed the race in the finale closing at the feet of the podium.
The fifth place went to Nicola Baldan (Mercedes AMG GT3), who led Postiglione-Mul (Lamborghini Huracan) and the two Ferrari 488 of Mann-Cressoni and Di Amato-Vezzoni. RS Racing's pairing run an excellent first stint and the Italian driver recovered two places fighting Veglia for P3 for a long time, while Vezzoni managed at best the second part of the race closing eighth and leading Perolini-Gersekowsky (Lamborghini Huracan) and Magnoni-Cuneo (Lamborghini Huracan), that were the first of GT3 AM. Tough luck hit Vallelunga's race-2 winners Agostini-Rovera (Mercedes AMG GT3) that had to retire on lap nine due to a puncture while holding P4, and teammates Larini-Palma, that went off with five laps to go due to an incident.
GT LIGHT
The third win of the season for Alberto Lippi and Giorgio Sernagiotto on Ferrari 458 Italia arrived in Imola. Following the two wins in Vallelunga, Ram Autoracing-Iron Lynx 's drivers confirmed to have the edge also at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari thanks to a good first stint by Lippi, who got the lead on lap five overtaking poleman Mattia Michelotto (Lamborghini Huracan-Antonelli Motorsport). After the driver's change, Sernagiotto kept P1 all the way till the flag, when he led Jirik-Paolino (Lamborghini Huracan-Iron Lynx) and Mattia Michelotto. La Mazza-Nicolosi (Porsche 991 4.0-Duell Motorsport) retired during lap one due to an incident instead.

GT 4
The victory of the entry level was awarded at the end of the race due to a 5s time penalty handed to Fascicolo-Guerra due to jumped start. The two rewarded BMW Team Italia with the second place. The victory went to Giuseppe Ghezzi and Joel Camathias (Porsche Cayman-Autorlando) at the end of a good comeback race after starting the race from P4 of GT4. The first part of the race was dominated by Cerqui (Maserati Gran Turismo-V Action), who led De Castro (Porsche Cayman-Ebimotors) and Fascicolo, but Guerra got the lead after the pit stop leading Rodriguez and Camathias. The Swiss driver took over from Ghezzi and managed to find his way past Rodriguez closing in to a bit more than a second on the BMW driver towards the end of the race. Stewards' decision changed the result of the race, allowing the team led by Orlando Redolfi to score its maiden win of the season leading the BMW pairing. The third step of the podium went to Cerqui-Rodrigues that led the two Ginetta G55 of Luca Magnoni and Marchetti-Mantori and the second Cayman fielded by Autorlando for Cerati-Chiesa. The seventh place went to the Polish drivers Piotr and Antoni Chodzen (Maserati Gran Turismo-SVC SM) that led the Porsche Cayman of Piccioli-Costa, while the dominators of the two races in Vallelunga Riccitelli-De Castro had to retire with four laps to go due to the failure of the radiator following contact with Rodriguez's Maserati.
