Jesolo: the second round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship is now on

06/05/2011 - The second round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship, organized by CSAI and promoted by ACI Sport, started at the Pista Azzurra of Jesolo with Thursday and Friday's free practice. The races will be covered live on Italian TV Nuvolari this Sunday at 14.25 (GMT+2).

More than 160 drivers entered this second round of the season, 133 of which in the four categories of the Italian Championship KZ2 (32), KF2 (31), KF3 (37) and 60 Mini (33) while about 30 drivers are involved in the race of the Championkart Parolin Trophy.

Considering that the first round of the championship in Sarno a month ago saw 160 drivers at the verifications, this beginning of the season is definitely positive with a total of 293 drivers running compared to the 283 involved in the first two races of the past year.

The protagonists of the provisional classifications of the championships were also on the spotlight in Jesolo's free practice. In KZ2 Antonio Piccioni (Parolin-Tm), present classification leader, set the fastest time in 45"346, ahead of Francesco Celenta (CRG-Tm) and the couple of CKR Alessandro Bressan and Marco Zanchetta. Marco Pizzuti (Birel-Tm) and Fabian Federer (CRG-Tm) followed.

In KF2 the fastest driver on track was Gianni Vigorito (Birel-Bmb) with a laptime of 46"110. Vigorito proceeded then Vittorio Maria Russo (Tony Kart-Vortex), Alessio Santilli (Intrepid-Tm), Marco Moretti (Maranello-Tm), Riccardo Cinti (Tony Kart-Tm) and Tomi Dragan (Tony Kart-Lke).

The best performance in KF3 was obtained by Antonio D´Angelo (Pcr-Parilla), who was followed by Lorenzo Paggi (Tony Kart-Tm), Salvatore Lo Cascio (FA-Tm), Davide De Marco (Tony Kart-Tm), Matteo Desideri (Tony Kart-Vortex) and the classification leader Federico Pezzolla (Intrepid-Tm).

In 60 Mini the Romanian Marcu Dionisios (Top Kart-Lke) topped charts with the time 52"808and was followed by Alex Irlando (Top Kart-Lke), Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart-Lke), the Polish Marcel Grudzinski (Tony Kart-Lke), the American Devlin Defrancesco (Tony Kart-Lke) and Lorenzo Franchetto (Birel-Lke).

Qualifying heats are on schedule for tomorrow, while the finals will be run on Sunday.
