28/06/2011 - From 1-3 July the International Circuit of Viterbo will house the third round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship with the usual four categories on track (60 Mini, KF3, KF2 e KZ2) where all protagonists of the tricolored championship will reach the turning point of the season. The next three races will be in Lonato next 7 August, Sant´Egidio alla Vibrata on 28 August and Ortona on 2 October.

Starting from the race in Viterbo, the project that CSAI (the Italian Sportive Automobile Commission) formalized with Ferrari Driving Academy: a selection of three young drivers aged between 13 and 16 will be chosen at every round to initiate them to a formative path involving psycho-attitude tests leading to the prize of a Supercourse on track in Vallelunga promoted by the Federal School CSAI and FDA. The coordinator of the selection will be the talent scout Giancarlo Minardi, former CSAI observer for karting who will be sided by some top drivers of motor-racing and karting as well as by some members of the Federal School CSAI of Vallelunga.

Meanwhile, in Viterbo all the major contenders to the title will be on track aiming to get heavy points for the championship in sight of the final sprint of the tricolored series. After the first two rounds in Sarno and Jesolo classifications are quite compact and therefore interesting for the spectacle that can be produced on track.

In KZ2 the attention will be on Fabian Federer (Crg-Tm), who has been really competitive in this initial part of the season. He has been recently crowned European champion in the category and is also leading the tricolored championship. His advantage in the Italian classification is just 4 points to Alessandro Bressan (Ckr-Tm), while Antonio Piccioni (Parolin-Tm) is slightly detached at 38 points but in great shape. Federer will have to watch out for Marco Zanchetta (Ckr-Tm) and the new couple of the team Renda Motorsport, Alberto Cavalieri (Intrepid-Tm) and Francesco Celenta (Crg-Tm).

In KF2, the official driver of Birel Motorsport, Gianni Vigorito, leads the classification after his victory in Jesolo's race two and now has 6 points advantage on Nicola Marcon (Tony Kart-Vortex) driving for team Dep Competition. Marco Moretti (Maranello-Tm) at 30 points, Alberto Di Folco (Tony Kart-Vortex) and Alessio Santilli (Intrepid-Tm) both at 40 points follow.

In KF3 the classification is led by Federico Pezzolla (Intrepid-Tm) of team Taglienti, but his classification lead was drastically reduced in Jesolo to just 6 points to the ever more competitive Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex) of team Morsicani. They will have to face a wide range of rivals, such as Lorenzo Paggi, Oystei Helgheim (Parolin-Tm) of team Formula K and Antonio D´Angelo (Pcr-Parilla) of Scuderia Pcr. The Canadian Lance Stroll will not be present due to family commitments but Jina Jamakawa , a young promising Japanese driver, will make his debut with the official colors of CRG.

The 60 Mini will see another excellent debut as Mika Hakkinen's son (Crg-Lke) will be racing with team T3M Sport of Norman Nato and of the 2009 world champion Arnaud Kozlinski. In this category foriegn drives do not earn points but often occupy the three steps of the podium as happened to the young Romanian Petrut Florescu (Top Kart-Parilla) and Marcu Dionisios (Top Kart-Lke), the Turkish Ayhancan Guven (Top Kart-Parilla) and to the Russian Robert Shawatzman (Birel-Lke). The Italian Remigio Garofano (Top Kart-Lke), current classification leader classifica and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart-Lke), winner of the last final in Jesolo and second in the classification with 34 points, will try to stop them. Sophia Floersch (Top Kart-Lke) is currently third with 50 points.
