12/04/2012 – In about a month time, the Italian CSAI Karting championship will officially start with the season opener scheduled for the weekend of the 13 May on the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno, the first of the five races of this year's tricolored championship.

One of the main novelties of this new edition is that together with the International categories KF3, KF2 and KZ2, all the other national categories will be competing for the corresponding titles, including the Prodriver that will be run in the last round of the 30 September in Ortona.

The 60 Mini will be present in all the rounds, the 60 Baby in the three mid-season races (3 June, 29 July and 9 September). The National Trophies disappear and will have to take place in a different context.

The race format will be new too and will feature the top 8 grid inversion for the second Final. The first final of each category will be covered live on TV and will have, as usual, the starting grid decided by the top 28 drivers of the qualifying heats and the remaining six positions obtained from the repechage race.

The grid inversion will be used for the second Final that will have a reduced scoring system compared to the first one.

As the first race of the season is getting closer, the picture of teams taking part to the series is being delineated too. In a few days Birel's presence will be made official with a programme dedicated mainly to the youngsters of the 60 Mini and KF3.

Clear victory ambitions will characterize CKR's participation to KZ2, with Massimo Dante and the Swedish Douglas Lundberg, and 3 other drivers still to be announced.

The 2011 KF3 champion, Federico Pezzolla, will be among the protagonists of KF2 in the lines of team Taglienti.

BRM will line up Leonardo Fuoco in KZ2,while Alessandro Trombelli, Mattia Ferrari and Mario Ziletti will compete in KF2 .

New Force Racing will get on track with Edoardo Salmaso in KF3, Andrea Russo and Christopher Zani in KF2, Domenico Cicognini in the Mini.

Jesolo Race will take compete with Massimo Mazzali and the new entry Antonio Piccioni in KZ2, Chiara Poletto in KF2 and Vittorio Travagin in 60 Mini.

Baby Race will give its karts to Alessio Lorandi, Luigi Angelillo and Lorenzo Giannoni in KF3, two drivers still to be defined in KF2, and Leonardo Lorandi with at least 5 other drivers in 60 Mini.
