The International Circuit Napoli of Sarno is housing the first round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship that had a good number of drivers involved with about 150 participants in the 4 categories KF2, KF3, KZ2 and 60 Mini.

After free practice held yesterday, qualifying and qualifying heats took place today with several of the announced protagonists under the spotlight as expected but some surprises came out of the day too.

The two finals of each category will take place on Sunday 12 May. The second final will have top 8 grid inversion on the basis of the result of Final 1.

SURPRISING DI POTO IN KZ2. In KZ2 the surprise came from the driver from Salerno Luigi Di Poto (Rosso Corsa-Tm), who led the driver from Naples Ciro Mollo (Jesolo-Tm), while one of the favorites, the driver from Trento Massimo Dante (Maranello-Tm) ended third ahead of the exiting champion Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm).
In the qualifying heats Luigi Di Poto led again the pack. The first heat was won by Massimo Dante. Good performance by Marco Pastacaldi (Birel-Tm) who was second in one heat.

MARCO MORETTI RULING IN KF2. In KF2 one of the main title contenders, Marco Moretti (Kosmic-Tm) set the pace ahead of the French Julien Darras (Tony Kart-Tm) and the British Callum Illot (Zanardi-Parilla). Good performance by Chiara Poletto (Parolin-Tm), as she set the seventh absolute time.
The two qualifying heats were won by Marco Moretti. Very good Callum Illot, who ended second in one heat and Julien Darras, who scored a second and a third place. Among the best also Andrea Moretti, Francesco Iacovacci and Marco Maestranzi.

PULCINI-LORANDI DUELLING IN KF3. No big surprise in KF3 as Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart-Vortex), confirmed the good growth in the last two years and set the quickest time today ahead of Remigio Garofano (Tony Kart-Lke). Two tenths adrift were the two brothers Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla), split by just 3 thousands with the more experienced Alessio leading the rookie (in KF3) Leonardo.

Two heats were won by Leonardo Pulcini and one by Alessio Lorandi. Good performance by Leonardo Lorandi (third and fifth) and Remigio Garofano (second and fifth). Among the several foreign drivers, the quickest was the Russian Nikita Mazepin (Tony kart-Vortex), with the Dutch Martin Van Leeuwen good third in one heat (Zanardi-Parilla).

60 MINI AT THE PHOTOFINISH. Francesco Pagano (Top Kart-Parilla) led "Skeed" (Top Kart-Lke) and the Malaysian Muizzuddin Musyaffa Abdul Gafar (CRG/Hero-Lke) in 60 Mini with the fourth time set by Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke) and the fifth by Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart-Parilla).

"Skeed" won the first heat while Francesco Pagano the second. The third heat was split in two halves due to consequence-less incident. At the restart Pagano managed to get another win, while "Skeed” had a problem at the start but the two Finals on Sunday are set to a photofinish end.
