First time indications in free practice at the Circuit of Siena, with some interesting confirmation in this third round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship that has all in place to produce a very good spectacle.

As mentioned, spectacle will be granted by the high number of drivers on track, 181 drivers have been verified out of the 200 entered in the 5 categories which sets a new record for the season that has a very high presence – superior to the past. In KZ2 47 drivers have been verified, 59 in 60 Mini, 22 in KF2, 38 in KF3 and 15 in the new Formula 60 ACI-CSAI.

The presence of several top drivers in International karting made the competition temperature rise alongside with the ambient temperature that is already very hot. In KZ2 a good duel will involve Marco Zanchetta, that is Maranello's works driver protagonist in the European and in the WSK Euro Series, together with his team mate and current classification leader Massimo Dante, as well as the home hero Mirko Torsellini, Tony Kart's works driver and Loris Spinelli, with the latter just moved to CRG. Very good pace also for Francesco Celenta (Energy), for the French Jeremy Iglesias (Lenzokart) and for Simone Brenna (Tbkart). Alike for the other drivers having deep knowledge of the circuit of Siena Tommaso Marconi (First), Flavio Sani (Birel) and Marco Pastacaldi (Birel). The quickest time was set by Zanchetta in 40"212, followed by Spinelli in 40"290 and Torsellini in 40"298. Dante posted a 40"356.

Great potential in KF2 for the Briton Callum Ilott (Zanardi) and Luca Corberi (Kosmic), the two quickest on Friday. Among the quickest also the French Julien Darras (Tony Kart), that is the current classification leader, Paolo Ippolito (Birel) and the two brothers Moretti Marco and Andrea (Kosmic). The quickest time was set by Ilott in 41"285, Corberi was the quickest in the second session with a time of 41"343.

In KF3 Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart) is back on the rampage after dominating the first round in Sarno. The Russian Nikita Mazepin was in evidence too together with his fellow countryman Robert Shwartzman and standings leader Alessio Lorandi, all on Tony Kart. The quickest in free practice was Pulcini in 42"192, a time set in the second session leading Shwartzman that posted his best 42"259, while Mazepin was the fastest in the first session with a 42"441 followed by Lorandi in 42"453. Good time posted by Giuliano Alesi, Jean Alesi's son, who is growing and currently has 5 tenths of a second of gap from the top.

In the crowded 60 Mini laptimes have been quite close in the two sessions. The quickest in the first double session were Skeed (Top Kart) in 48"126 and Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo) in 48"153. The fourth heat was led by Fusco in 48"162 from Lukas Podobky (Birel) in 48"177, while Massimo Chinelli (Top Kart) posted a 48"295 in the third session proceeding Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart) and Nicola Abrusci (Tony Kart).

In the new Formula 60 ACI-CSAI – at the second of the three rounds of the season – Leonardo Bizzotto did a good performance with a 50"994 followed by classification leader Matteo Roccadelli, the latter in the second session was the fastest in 51"294.

The programme will continue on Saturday with qualifying and heats while on Sunday the Finals will have live TV coverage on Nuvolari starting from 10,25 (GMT+2).
