The third round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship got to its heart in Siena with the day dedicated to qualifying and then heats to dispute the access to the final stages on Sunday.

Very tough day both in terms of very high temperatures and of the agonism shown on track where a lot of duels took place to get into the 34 finalists racing tomorrow, especially in KZ2 where 47 drivers were on track in Siene and in 60 Mini that featured 59 drivers verified setting a new record in this category. In total, KF3 had 38 drivers, KF2 22 and the new Formula 60 ACI-CSAI 15, in total 181 drivers were verified for the race that marks the turning point of the season.

KF2. Saturday started with qualifying where several drivers could confirm the values on the field expressed on Friday, starting from Luca Corberi (Kosmic-Vortex) who set the pole in KF2 with the time 41"570, ahead of Paolo Ippolito (Birel-Tm) and the Briton Callum Ilott (Zanardi-Tm). Classification leader Julien Darras (Tony Kart-Tm), was only ninth. In the heats Corberi was unleashed and won the two races leading Andrea Moretti and Darras in the first race, Ilott and a very good Cucco, in the second where Darras went seventh.

KF3. In KF3 the quickest time was set by Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla) in 42"443, while the dominator of the first round in Sarno Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart-Vortex) was back setting the best time in his group in 42"685. Only 15th place for the winner in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, Petru Florescu (Tony Kart-Vortex). Two wins in the heats for Pulcini, one for Shwartzman, while Alessio Lorandi who won the second heat was penalyzed by 10 seconds for a jump start which compromised his starting position for Sunday.

KZ2. In KZ2 Flavio Sani (Birel-Tm) was the quickest in the first group with a time of 40"527 while Antonio Piccioni (Intrepid-Tm) went quickest in the second group in 40"483. The favourites of the eve, like Mirko Torsellini (Tony Kart-Vortex), Marco Zanchetta (Maranello-Tm), Loris Spinelli (CRG-Tm), standings leader Massimo Dante (Maranello-Tm) and the French Jeremy Iglesias (Lenzokart-Lke) ended a little bit more to the back. More fruitful than expected was Tommaso Marconi (First-Tm), who pulled two wins but also Mirko Torsellini secured a win and a second place.

60 MINI. The quickest time in qualifying was set by Lukas Podobsky (Birel-Lke) in the first group while in the second the Indonesian Prassetyo Hardja went quickest. These two drivers killed off rivals in the heats with Hardja winning two qualifying heats and Podobsky two as well. The other qualifying races went to Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart-Parilla) and Skeed (Top kart-Lke).

FORMULA 60 ACI-CSAI. In the new Formula 60 ACI-CSAI, the single branded Birel, the quickest was classification leader Matteo Roccadelli from Leonardo Bizzotto. In the first heat the win went to Francesco Crescente from Santo Macaluso, with the latter winning the second heat from Roccadelli.
