The fourth round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship got to its heart at the South Garda Karting of Lonato with qualifying and qualifying heats of Saturday that brought under the spotlight some contenders of the final standings.

The presence of drivers in this fourth round of the season has been very good with about 40 new entries and 50 foreign drivers out of 172 verified drivers. The categories on track are KZ2, KF2, KF3 and 60 Mini, as well as the newborn Formula 60 ACI/CSAI for children aged 8 - 10 that runs the third and last act of the season in this weekend.

POLE POSITION FOR DANTE IN KZ2'S FINAL-1

In KZ2 championship leader Massimo Dante (Maranello-Tm), set the pole position in the morning qualifying in 42"341. The second time went to Francesco Celenta (Energy-Tm) who was just 32 thousands shy, followed by Giacomo Pollini (CRG-Modena) who also was very close to Dante at 76 thousands, as the French driver Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-Tm) who has been among the front runners despite being at the debut in KZ2. Riccardo Longhi (Art GP-Tm) and Antonio Piccioni (Intrepid-Tm), complete the lot within only a second.

In the first heat of KZ2 Dante secured the victory leading Celenta and a good Boccolacci, while Pollini was involved in an incident. In the second heat Giulietti got the win ahead of Celenta and Dante with the latter leading most of the race. Boccolacci was forced to the retirement due to an incident at lap one but his debut has been positive anyway. The fourth place was obtained by Andrea Dalè (CRG-Tm). Pole position for Dante in the first Final to be run on Sunday morning at 10.25 (GMT+2).

IN KF2 HAT-TRICK BY DARRAS, BUT CORBERI IS CLOSE

No particular surprise in KF2 as the French driver and current classification leader Julien Darras (Tony Kart-Tm) was the quickest in 43"698, leading the surprising Diego Bertonelli (Zanardi-Tm) and one of his main rivals in the championship, the Brit Callum Ilott (Zanardi-Tm). Very close to the leader were also the Moretti brothers and Luca Corberi, all ready to recover points in the classification on their Kosmic.

Darras won the two heats. The first proceeding Ilott, the second topping Luca Corberi, as the latter put in a good recover on the home race after a troubled weekend opening. Bad luck for Ilott in the second heat as a contact made him spin during the first lap.

PULCINI E LORANDI BATTLING IN KF3

In KF3 the two brothers Lorandi – i.e the classification leader Alessio and Leonardo, both on Tony Kart-Parilla – were the fastest in qualifying leading Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart-Vortex) at just 71 thousands from Alessio. Very good performance also for Lorenzo Travisanutto, the Romanian Petru Florescu and Remigio Garofano, as all ended within a bit more than 2 tenths.

In KF3 heats the win went to Pulcini in the first race, while Lorandi brothers dominated the second as Alessio led Leonardo. Alessio Lorandi won also the last heat of the day.

ABRUSCI VICTORIOUS IN 60 MINI

The pole position of the 60 Mini went to Nicola Abrusci (Tony Kart-Lke), as he secured three wins in the heats, while Makar Myzevych, Lorenzo Colombo and Lucas Legeret got one each.

FORMULA 60 TO AWARD THE TITLE

The Formula 60 ACI/CSAI's pole position went to Gabriele Aiello, and the win in both qualifying heats went to Leonardo Bizzotto.
