Surprises did not lack in Castelletto di Branduzzo's qualifying valid for the last round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship, starting from qualifying held this morning up to the heats run in the afternoon that are crucial to get the best starting places for Sunday's final one.

The 146 drivers at the start of this fifth and last round of the season made the championship reach 826 participations.

KZ2. In KZ2 (23 drivers on track) Massimo Mazzali (Art-Lke) surprisingly confirmed himself very quick after the victory obtained in the race of Lonato.

Very good performance also by Giacomo Pollini on CRG-Tm, who set the second quickest time ahead of the new World Champion Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-Tm) and the new entry Luca Tilloca on Energy, while the two title contenders Massimo Dante (Maranello) and Francesco Celenta (Energy) are currently fifth and sixth.

The two heats of KZ2 have been quite close. In the first heat the victory went to Mazzali, from Dante to Celenta, with Boccolacci fourth and Giulietti recovering up to the fifth place. The second heat rewarded an unleashed Boccolacci, who led Celenta, Mazzali, Giulietti and current classification leader Dante. The first final on Sunday announces to be quite full of uncertainty.

KZ2 Championship Standings: 1. Dante points 139; 2. Celenta 117; 3. Pastacaldi e Piccioni 94; 5. Giulietti 89; 6. Mazzali 73; 7. Drudi 64; 8. Spinelli 62; 9. Di Poto 57; 10. Marconi 56.

KF2. In qualifying of KF2 (23 drivers) Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart-Tm) ended on top, ahead of a very quick Luca Corberi (Kosmic-Vortex). Very good performance from the underdogs Diego Bertonelli (Zanardi-Tm), Gianni Vigorito (Exprit-Tm) and Ollie Norris, who occupy the first positions ahead of the championship leader Julien Darras (Tony Kart-Tm). Maestranzi has showed a great shape since the beginning and scored and hat trick in the two heats with Bertonelli and Corberi on his trail, together with the Brit Ilott and the French Darras closing up on the front runners.

KF2 Championship Standings: Darras points 185; 2. Moretti Marco 134; 3. Ilott 122; 4. Maestranzi 115; 5. Corberi 113; 6. Moretti Andrea 94; 7. Bertonelli 68; 8. Iacovacci 40; 9. Russo and Gomez 34.

KF3. In KF3 (50 drivers) the new European Champion Lando Norris (FA Kart-Vortex) has been under the spotlight grabbing the pole position, while the classification leader Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla) is a bit on the back in sixth place, with his main rival Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart-Vortex) third. In the three heats run in this category Alessio Lorandi won the first race but then Norris won the second heat, while Pulcini secured the third. The duel for the victory in the finals on Sunday is apparently a thing between these three champions with Lorandi and Pulcini that will have to battle the Italian title out.

KF3 Championship Standings: 1. Lorandi Alessio points 200; 2. Pulcini 176; 3. Garofano 105; 4. Lorandi Leonardo 87; 5. Florescu 80; 6. Giannoni 79; 7. Mazepin 73; 8. Shwartzman 55; 9. Baiz 54; 10. Pollara 45.

60 MINI. In 60 Mini (50 drivers on track) Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart-Parilla) obtained the pole position but the classification leader Nicola Abrusci (Tony Kart-Lke) turned out to be very quick and got the second quickest time, while the other title contender Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke) was sixth. Three heats have been necessary to select the finalists. In the first race Fusco won from Abrusci, while in the second heat Marseglia won leading the Swede Rasmus Lindh (Ipk-Parilla), but the latter obtained the victory in the third heat shuffling therefore the cards ahead of the finals of Sunday.

60 Mini Championship Standings: 1. Abrusci points 160; 2. Pagano 121; 3. Fusco 120; 4. Colombo 109; 5. Podobski 93; 6. Marseglia 89; 7. Muizzuddin 82; 8. Legeret 78; 9. Hardja 54; 10. Chinelli 52.
