The third round of the Italian ACI-CSAI Karting Championship held at the circuit of Siena ended with a good success coming from the good numbers involved (148 drivers coming from 25 countries and 4 continents) and due to the spectacle seen on track in the three days of the event ended today with the 4 double finals.

KZ2 – VICTORY TO ZANCHETTA AND CAMPLESE

The most powerful category, KZ2, had 47 drivers on track and Francesco Celenta (Energy-TM) did not strike after shining all the way up to qualifying heats. The victory was obtained by the pairing of Maranello as Marco Zanchetta won the first final after the retirement due to technical problems experienced by Celenta, while Lorenzo Camplese put in a good performance in race-2. Thanks to this win, Camplese confirmed himself on top of the charts with 154 points ahead of Zanchetta who stands at 114, while Celenta is third at 76. Very good performance by Riccardo Longhi (CRG-Modena), who ended second in race-1 behind Zanchetta, ahead of Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart-Vortex) who was in turn at his first podium in the Italian KZ2.

The pairing of Lenzokart with karts powered by the competitive LKE engine units shone too in KZ2. The French Jeremy Iglesias and Francesco Iacovacci, ended race-1 respectively in sixth and seventh place, while the French was again on the podium of race-2 in second between Camplese and Zanchetta. Iacovacci has been quite unlucky as he could not getaway from the front row in race-2 and then had to retire due to a technical issue. Very good race also for Loris Spinelli (CRG-TM) who came back from P13 in race-1 to the fourth place of race-2 ahead of Mirko Torsellini (Art GP-TM).

KF2 - MAESTRANZI LEADER

Category KF2, with 20 drivers at the start, displayed again a stunning Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart-TM), who ruled the whole weekend since practice, won unchallenged race-1 and then also a race-2 started from the eighth spot of the grid due to the top 8 grid inversion. In race-1 Maestranzi led Adriano Albano (Tony Kart-TM) and Diego Bertonelli (Zanardi-TM) as the latter inherited the podium from Andrea Moretti (Exprit-TM) who was handed a 3 seconds time penalty. The latter counter-charged in race-2 though, as he ended second from Bertonelli. Maestranzi is leading the charts at 128 points and is followed by Moretti at 119 and Albano at 76.

KF3 – BRAZILIANS ON TOP

KF3, had 31 drivers on track. Full haul for team RB that employed LKE engines. The engines made in Sicily occupied eight positions in the top ten of race-2. Team RB on Exprit-LKE put in a one-two-three in race one as the Brazilian Murilo Della Coletta led the fellow countryman Gabriel Sereia and the Indian Kush Maini. Remigio Garofano got the satisfaction of the second place in race-2, as Marcel Della Coletta claimed the victory while his brother Murilo Della Coletta ended third. The protagonist of the previous races, the American Devlin DeFrancesco (Tony Kart-Vortex), ended fourth in race-1 while he was forced to the retirement due to incident in race-2, At the flag of race-2 the Indian Maini was first but he was later on handed a 3 seconds penalty at the start and was therefore relegated to the fifth place. Garofano installed himself on top of the charts with 138 points, DeFrancesco is second at 126 and Sereia third at 88.

The Russian from Saint Petersburg Dimitri Bogdanov (racing with Italian licence) won race-1 on Tony Kart-LKE, as Francesco Pagano (Top Kart-LKE) was second and Andrea Rosso (Energy-LKE) third. In race-2 Bogdanov has been protagonist again but this time he was involved in an incident in the initial stages which forced race direction to continue in "slow” regime. Positions were frozen until the end as Pagano was on the top step of the podium, Antonio Serravalle (Tony Kart-Parilla) was second and Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-LKE) third.
